Bike Stalls in Rain

Yep my Fazer is leaving me pushing in the rain.

Did it one time last year in some wet, wanted to stall out when coming to a stop. Kept it going and no issues until this Saturday.

Bike sat outside while I was in church and got down poured on for a good 30 minutes. Went out in the rain, bike fired, died. Few minutes later it fired up. Made it 1/2mile and stalled at a stop. Pushed it back, fired up, rode around the parking lot, it died. Got a truck there to haul it, bike bump started, died at the ramps!

Talked to the local Yami shop they said clean all the connections with contact cleaner and dielectric. Did it Tuesday.

Today rode to work in the rain and it tried to stall at a stop light. Kept it going and made it to work by keeping the Rs at 3k each time I stopped. bike was kinda sluggish almost when going then.

Pulled into the ramp, stopped and bike stalled as soon as I dropped the Rs to back it up.

Someone suggested the kill switch and key as areas to look around.

I gotta figure this out, cause rain don't stop the bike from leaving the house....unless this crap keeps up.

The bike did fire right up at lunch time after sitting in a ramp for 4 hours.

This may sound stupid and the wrong direction, but check the carb or carbs for water.
I was chasing a what I thought was a electrical problem on my Dr a couple of years ago. When I pulled the tank the petcock leaked and when it hit the floor I noticed the water beads.
I cleaned the tank and drained the carb and problem was gone.

My problem was it died once after hitting a big puddle but restarted after a couple of minutes, then at other times it would not run at low RPM's.

Good luck chasing the Gremlin.

I've checked all the connections and cleaned/greased them.

I suppose I could chase each wire, but then I'm splitting the wraps.

One bud who knows lots said it sounded like a cracked plug wire or coil pack. Sprayed water on the packs last night and those didn't suck air or make the bike stall.

Tonight I will pull the caps and grease them. Also check them over good for little cracks.

KSH, man don't even say carbs, I'd rather chase a wire down!

The bowls should have a drain screw to drain them.

Your most likely looking in the right area.

I have a FZ1 Yami. I know when I have changed the plugs, that the caps (with long boots) are hard to fit tight and seal the deep holes that the plugs go in. I use a plug cap puller to push them that last little pop before they seal. Just a thought; but if water got down in there it may cause some electrical problems. This has been one of the most fun bikes I've had! Hope you figure it out!
