thinking about trying the bighorns, what are places to stay that is close to the riding areas?

Thank you everyone!

The Bear Lodge and Elk View lodges have riding right out the door.

Both are nice places to stay. The Bear probably has a little better night life but both have great restaurants and fuel.

There is also the Arrowhead Lodge, all three lodges are close to the riding and owned by the same people. From what i have been hearing this year they have been filling up almost every weekend, so i would try to reserve rooms before you head out. If you cant get a room at the lodges, ranchester has a small motel, and then sheridan has plenty of options. Depening on where you are coming from, Wyoming High Country might be an option as well, would have to take all your stuff in on sleds. They are located down 14a.

You can look at us also www.tensleepmotel.com are house and apartments have every thing down to wine bottle opener. 50 inch plasma and free internet. We are 11 miles from were you leave with sleds but they can be left up top if you dont want to pull them up and down. You will still save money staying in Ten Sleep as every thing is cheaper there. Plus we will pay for first pitcher of beer a Ten Sleep Saloon and you find out that you own the mountain during the week when sleding .

Free beer? I am coming down next week to check it out. Maybe if your down there you''l by a 2nd picture?

They are getting better all the time. Its been slow but were getting there. I just looked at the weather report on the wy trails web site and it says up to 11 inches of new snow in the next 3 days on the high side and half that on the low side of what they are saying. Lets pray its the high side this time. We would love to have you stay with us some time. I try to be honest with people when they ask how the snow is. I told lots of people to wait when it was real bad. We are getting to the time when they get most of there snow out there. From now to april is when we get the good dumps. I will be out there feb 22 for 3 weeks.

I think that honesty goes along way for sledders. I would pay more to stay with a place that is honest about snow conditions. The north horns says there snow is good or great all the time I have never been told not to come out because of snow conditions. The reports on snowest haved saved many ruined trips for sledders and the info on here is great. I have also logged more years and miles in the horns than most. 20 years plus glad to see some new blood in the south horns hope it works out for you. I will be there in march after a big snow event maybe ride with you and have some fun?:humble:
