BIG THANKS TO LOGAN SEARCH AND RESCUE. Few pics of the rescue.

Well I experienced what I never thought would happen to me. I had a pretty good wreck up Tony Grove loosing speed at the top of a climb, not quite getting over the small cornice. Tried to save the sled and hit a tree breaking my femur and wrist plus a good open gash below the knee and bruises everywhere. There's a hundred things I should have done differant, to avoid this accident, but live and learn I guess.

I want to give a BIG THANKS to all who were involved with getting me out of the mountains and to the hospitol for surgery. Logan search and Rescue and the paramedics were awesome. I wish I new everyone's names, but Jeremy David and Lance were a few who worked close with me, great great guys. Accident happened around 2:00 on Saturday and I got to the hospitol just after 8:00. I've never heard anything better in my life than to hear those rescue sleds coming. I have to admit, I love that stuff they call Fentinol and morphine, good stuff! Great sledding in June with a lot more to go for many of you, i'll be back next year. Also big thanks to my good friends that I was riding with: Jay Dee, Chad and Chase.

Have Fun. Here's a few pics for you.

Yeah Ouch,

S.A.R. is fricken awesome. I got a little help in CO a few months back.
Good to hear you got taken care of well by the Logan crew.

Glad you got out safe! Good luck post op and best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

YIKES, glad you are ok. Hope you have a speedy recovery! Thanks for sharing the pictures! That gash is nasty!

Ouch! A femur break is one of the most impossible things to do...it takes A LOT of force! I really hope you recover quickly. As always, I am mega impressed with the SAR teams. Really put it on the line to be helpful.

I am a medicine nut I always find the Xrays to be crazy and fascinating. If you get the chance you should share one or two of them! I also wonder if they are going to make you the bionic man with a bunch of pins and plates...not uncommon for femur breaks.

Again, best wishes for a speedy recovery!!

Titanium rod from my hip to knee, plate and screws in my wrist.
Sledders like titanium right? I,ll see if i can get some x-rays

Thanks for the update. While it may seem cruel to say so, I think it is awesome to be part metal man. If nothing else, you have a sweet conversation starter. Do they have you on an 8wk recovery plan? If so, you might still get some play time this summer...but whatever you do, don't start too soon. Bad enough to repair the first time around. Time number two is pretty tough on you and the surgeon (having been around the orthopods enough, I know they hate to repair their own work).

I'll keep an eye out for those xrays...thanks for sharing and good luck with recovery!!:boxing:

Late season snow is much less forgiving then fluffy powder.

Plus people who are use to stopping easily on a downhill in powder can find them selves reaching top speeds quickly, without any breaking and little maneuverability, when descending the spring crust.

Snomac we was up there that Saturday and ran into the S&R guys just N. of the lake. They asked us if we knew where the accident was and we didn't and the only info they had was North West of the lake so we rode that direction and found a guy on a Polaris Dragon that said he had heard the crash and seen peeps gathered around you. He told us it was up by Castle Rock so some guys in our group took the S&R up there seems how they were a little lost when we ran into them.

Glad to see your doing good considering the situation!! :D to bad it happened to we'll be riding til mid july up there if it keeps this up :)

Hey thanks for sending them the right direction, I heard there was a bit of a mix up with the GPS coordinates. I believe our phone was cutting in and out while giving them the numbers.
Yes I wish I could be riding in July like many of you will, thats awesome.

I'd invest in a SPOT asap, reduces the confusion of the GPS coordinates when the cell phone isn't cutting it. Good to hear they found you and that you're on the mend. Thats a mean looking hole in your leg.
