Most of us have experienced some epic days on the hill, and then there are those times when its our turn to get pummelled by the best that Murphy has to offer. Yesterday, my card got pulled. After a morning of some steep descents into some remote bowls, my 800r blew a piston rod. After some attempts by a friend's (bbjams) M7 to tow the dead weight on the flats, and couple a broken tow staps later, we realized we needed some serious help. After tracking down any available riders in the area we ran into Kaleb and his crew. They jumped at the chance to rescue a fellow snowester. These guys (and girl) went way above and beyond to help out someone they on only knew via posts and pm's, and I truly appreciate their help.

At the end of the day, I think we all could agree that we wished things could of gone better. Especially Mike, I am sorry for cutting your season short, and well get your tunnel ext pimped out for next season.

It sucks to have lost a day, but on the brightside, I hope to have gained some new riding buddies that I have the chance share some epic powder days with and return the favor.

Thank guys!

Hey, I just hope that when it happens to me that someone puts as much effort into getting my butt out!!! (minus the damage that is!)

I'll work on how to get it out this week, maybe we can go in there this friday afternoon & get it done, we'll see.

Anybody on here willing to help pull a motor on a rev? I'm not a doo guy & I get a feeling that the costs of getting as mechanic in the BC would get a bit high.

over near WP? Backside?

Other direction, about 15 min in. It basically just needs to go up one last climb. Lance has a motor ready to go if we can swap it or we could pull the motor & get the sled out easier with the weight of the motor out of it.

No worries Lance. Things could have been worse (the turbo rolling into those trees). The way the snow was yesterday, you'll have a few good rides left after the fix.

Yeah, that would have been worse, because Abby would have hung me from the tree in front of our new house, would've been a waste of a young life.

Needless to say, we called the insurance agent first thing monday morning & added the HCR to our policy.

scroo yoo man!! (and learn to use quotes right!!!)

So, back to the subject after our yapping,

Is there anyone who would be willing to help either pull this out, pull the motor, or swap the motor? He could really use some help!

dead sled

could help either fri. afternoon or sat. both sleds apart right now but should have the apex back online fri. how bad is the tow out?

well... we didn't make it with a 1000 on 1 ski & the turbo on the other ski. So it's not ideal.

Lance has another motor sitting ready to go in that we could swap into it, or I was thinking that if we pulled the motor the sled would be that much lighter.

We were very limited by fresh snow & short ropes, with a few days for the snow to set & some longer ropes I may be over concerned about the tow out, but there's a pretty step aspect there. It would definately be better to have a motor in it & let it get out on it's own.

Hello everyone,

I have started working on a backup plan.
Yesterday, I got a hold of Tom at www.buddytow.com and told him about the situation. He told me a similar story in Montana about a stranded 153" and a failed attempt by two 1000's to get it out. After using the this system they got the sled out. I had him send one out, and it should be here by Thursday. I figured if we could get about 120' ft of rope we could get three sleds to pull it out safely. 120' should give us 30' of rope distance on each sled with reduced rolling resistance each sled would only have to pull about 160 additional lbs uphill. I also have the doo service manual, and could probably pull the motor in about an hour. if we need to lighten it up.
Now we just need a day and time. Kaleb suggested friday afternoon, my boss is a sled owner so he would understand and let me have some time off.

tow job

well... we didn't make it with a 1000 on 1 ski & the turbo on the other ski

yea but those were kittys....(he he i'm sure the big air tour is gonna have some words with me for that one)

have wished i had a buddy tow for some broken skid episodes but not sure if it would make a tow out easier than a track rolling with the belt off. it might. you have to be more alert when towing since the rolling track keeps the rear of the sled tracking straight.

i'm gonna pull the motor out of my rev wed. i'll keep all the tools out and organized. if we do end up dropping in a different motor i'm assuming someone is sure that it runs. would be a huge bummer to do the r&r and be back at square 1.

supposed to get anodized bling back thurs. afternoon for the apex. will keep ya posted. if i don't get it running for some reason, it is possible for someone to ride me in? would still be willing to help apex or not.

I've got a spare HCR-T & an 08 M1000 for fri, so getting you in there shouldn't be a problem. (oh yeah, the racer would get you in there too... just wouldn't get you back out!!)

tow job

cool. i'll call you thurs. night and let you know wazzup. what time on fri. and where?

Thanks for coming out JP, that was a hell of a day!
