Big riders on RMK Pro

I go about 275 and on my past yami sleds I just re-valved and occasional big boy springs.

What have the larger riders done to get their sled setup?

- Better boards or equivalent
- Upgrade rear spring
- Re-valve all shocks
- Stock power enough
- Large sandwich and snack holder... :)

Set the rear spring according to the book, adjusted the bars, mounted a muff pot (so I can keep my figure) and ride it!

260 here, I have the air frame running boards rear spring 9.75". Put on a 3" riser love the sled muff pot is more difficult without a hood. Looking to install a aftermarket seat for ease of transition from sitting and less knee bend

If you ride at all aggressively you will want heavier springs. I'm about 100 lbs lighter than you and I bottom mine out all the time, and I have preload adjusted almost to the max. If you ride groomed trails every day you should be ok, but that's not what these things are made for

Any big guys riding the RMK Assault? I am about 240# and I am hoping it will have enough adjustment to handle my weight.

I put assualt shocks on my pro's skid and the valving seems pretty good for my weight at 240 without gear. Only problem is the running boards are cracked, wont hold up to hard riding. Going to see if they warrenty the tunnel. Also have better boards on order.

Are you running the tunnel reinforcements or strictly stock?????

tunnel supports, ride it and then maybe revalve...same weight as you ,NO ISSUES

Awesome. I'm not much of a jumper, just hit some rough trails. Hoping the running boards will hold up? Or are they really weak? I haven't had issues with my '08 Rev XP Renegade.

You guys with your weight disclosures are making me feel pretty good about myself and I haven't seen 200 since college 18 years ago. I'm starting to feel that my current stature is normal.

I only go 220 and definetly need to revalve my shocks stiffer. Also have bent my running boards from jumping/pounding on the trails. Then agian, I have on every sled I have ever owned so that is normal for me...

Lol. Glad we could help. In all seriousness I think the average weight of the Male American snowmobile rider is at least 200 pounds and I hope the manufacturers take that into account when they are calibrating. They certainly don't when they build dirt bikes...different demographic perhaps though.

I'd say upgrade your shocks to new valving specs for your weight or get set-up on a front and back pair of Fox Evol's, then you'll never run out of adjustment.

Go with WRP boards as they are like better boards and tunnel support braces in one.

Also if your tall too, the WRP seat will ease your transition from sitting to standing as it's higher than the stock seat.

Make sure you have a Pro, and if you have a standard RMK upgrade to the "Pro's" Pro Taper bars, I can bend the standard one's and I'm only 140lbs with gear.

Wrote out the check Monday for a pro 163! Almost went Cat since the pro was going to be about $1,200 more by the time I get it set for my weight. The ProClimb M 800 I would have been able to ride with no mods.

Luckily when I told my dealer I had to go Cat because of cash he cut me a much better deal to keep me there. I am glad, really wanted the polaris. Just started a basement remodel and had to cut back on sled expense!!! Oh well, at least she let me get a new sled!

Sure like my dealer, happy to stay with Delano Sports Center in MN.

I had went to the sled preview and my size 14 feet in shoes spanned from up against the tunnel and up on to the outer lip of the rail. Can't imaging my big boots on there.

Anyway going to order the black airframes which my big feet will be a little more comfortable on and will not flex.

Also just found this and think it looks great. http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250098&highlight=3M

Black airframes with the red tunnel brace should be nice.

That should get the tunnel to hold up and I would not have to worry about hauling some gas over the bumps.

Now I will need to figure out what to do about the shocks. Leaning towards new spring and valve job.

Thanks everyone for the input. Keep it coming if you have anymore thoughts.
