Me and my buddies are thinking about making a trip out to the Horns. None of us have been there and I am wondering where to stay and ride around that area.

Thanks.

Can't go wrong with Bear lodge. If I ever win the lottery, that'll be my second home! I hear good things about Ranger Creek and Snoshoe but never stayed there. Where to ride? Anyplace. Seems like the snow varies up there. Might snow alot one direction and the other not so much. Next snow could be opposite. From my experience, it seems around late Feb through March is usually the better snow.

Arrowhead is a pretty nice place to stay too. If I remember right it is now owned by the owners of Bearlodge as well.

Yea I second Arrowhead nice place to stay and good company. As far as riding goes pull the rope and head out!!:beer;:D

We plan on a trip to the Bighorns for the first time this winter also.
Is 14 and 14A open all winter long or is it closed like 130 in the Snowies?

14 is a year round road but 14A is closed in the winter, There has been major construction going on up there all summer which was supposed to be done this fall. They aren't going to make there paving deadline so it will have to be finished next summer. It will probably be a mess up there all winter.

North is the better snow. South end hasn't had a place to stay the last couple years, but Deer Haven should be open this winter and it's pretty good out of there. Fewer beelers on the south end. Take your pick........

Thanks for the heads up! I'll plan on some extra time, the first time up this year.

If you want really deep snow, your gonna have better luck if you go to the north side. The passage resort is a really nice place to stay.

Depending on the snow conditions and what type of accomadations you are looking for will dictate where you should stay. All of the lodges on the mountain are here for your enjoyment. North or South most people stay at one location and travel all over. Your best bet is to check on feedback and also look at everyones websites. Glad you are considering "The Horns" and we all look forward to seeing you.
