Building a 300 2smoke with Yeti or CMX and trying to decide to stick with 137 which I know and like, or if I could get away with the 129.

Have a KTM 500 with CMX 137, so the plan for the 2smoke is light and fun for spring, and occasional days when I put family or friend on one of them.

Fatass = 6'5" 320

Whatcha think?

I rode my friends ST last year and thought I was going to hate it coming off of a LT and being 300lbs. Well I might be buying one this year. Track speed makes a big difference and it felt so nimble.

I would agree... I am 220 and especially for the 300 I would go short if I had to do it over again...track speed is king... I currently run a cr500 and wish I would have went short...

I rode mine which is a 2015 LT and the my friends 2016 st...... The st was better in every department...We both were are cr500.. This was the first big snow of the season 0 base 3 to 4 feet deep. The problem is I have never seen a 16 lt in the wild.... That being said I am switching to the new track this year on my lt....

That's pretty close to a fair test, early no base is tough.

Really the only worry is when I do dumb things going downhill, and the only way out is back up. Which is scary even on the long track. Maybe the track speed would help there, as it's usually momentum that's needed to get you back up and out of the mess?

Getting momentum and zigzagging..... I figured out end of year though for my set up putting the forks as high as possible in the clamps made a huge difference in handling with the LT.... Sometimes I wonder if people have not spent enough time dialing in that part...... because then I could keep up with the st.... but at the end of the day the convex track is truly that much better.... We have been in all types of stupid places..... that is what I find is different on the bike then the sled... I feel you can always get out.... The sled.... for me at least is a much bigger pickle....

A well setup LT, with the new tracks handle impressively well for their length. That being said, I would never ride one compared to a short track, but im only 155#.

I think the 129 would be a fun setup for you, I have rode the CMX and Yeti's 129 and they are impressively nimble feeling.

Although, if your gonna have 2 bikes I figure why not build them as far apart as possible, if they are too close you just will end up riding 1 all the time. Id say yeti 120 if you could swing it and enjoy a setup thats like 50+# lighter then your 500. That would be a wicked setup in anything less then 2' of snow and when it gets deep and nasty the 500 is just going to be the tractor you need.

I have rode side by side on a ST vs LT TS kits and they never go anywhere you can't on the longer, just might take more aggressive riding on the smaller setup. So with 1 more switchback or track poaching yourself a time or two you can always easily go where an LT gets.

Yup, the idea of the bike is to be way deferent. Would just have to grown enough balls to try the 120.

Guess this is with the new Raptors, Yeti 120 rear weight = 90lbs, 129=95lbs, and 137=100lbs.

So go 120, or eat Mexican food and drink coffee for a nice 5 pound dump before crawling on the 129!
