big bore ktm 490 worth the money?

anyone had any expierence with the 490 kit on the 17 or 18 ktm 450. seems like people have had positive things to say about it here locally but curious if anyone has done any back to back comparing.

My experience with KTM BBs is no its not worth the dough. I'm certain others will disagree, each to their own i would not waste the money again.

Hey M5, interested to know some more specifics on your experience? Any other mods other than the big bore kit? Did you run a different fuel map after the BB? We have had good experiences with the big bore's, specifically the 520 kit on the 13-15 KTM 450's. With a Vortex ECU mapped for the 520 our guys have been super happy. Definitely been able to pull another gear in most conditions. Much less throttle input to maintain ground speed in the trees as well, certainly the added torque is there. Does not seem drastically different on the top end but for most of the low to midrange they have performed very well.

I had a KTM 490 BB and switched back to 450. The 490 could pull an extra gear but reved slower. The 490 felt sluggish like a 500 while the 450 was more responsive and more fun to ride.

My experience is spend it on porting, high compression,, cams, dyno with a good engine builder then you gain revs and get more power than the big bore if done right. Tuning is key....
