I have a great running 2005 900 166 rmk that im thinking about selling the engine and replacing it with a 2004 700 rmk engine, has anyone done this or have any info? pics?

why would u do this??
I'm with him, It can be done but there is a lot of work that needs to be done, almost everything has to be converted, intake, steering, exhaust, lots of homemade parts, I would wait until you have a problem with your 900 before you go through all of the hassle.

Don't know why you would want to downgrade on power and definitely would run a few extra grand in man hours and parts fab. But anyway, here is a link wheresomeone put a 700 non ves into a fusion. Click here

I don't see the point in it IMO. The person who did this fell for all the internet hype thinking all 900's are bad. Good luck if you do it.hope you have some deep pockets.

A LOT of work, and to switch it out took more time than money.. Using mostly parts from my donor sled, I tallied up under $700 to put it together, which includes the flatslides. I'm kinda cheap, so I made whatever I had laying around fit. The $$ didn't include sawzall blades or welding. Ebay and swap meets are your friend.

It is more than a bolt on ordeal, a whole mess of things have to change, not worth it for most... as long as you've got a good running 900, stick with it.

Just buy a 2006 600 HO

Put a 159 track on it and a 660 kit in it and call it a day.

I own 2 685 Carl's kit 2006's with 159's.

Awsome sled's. Very reliable

Giving up 20+ HP and mounds of torque, Not a good idea. Every year on here and other sites I see someone talking about doing this. Almost always someone with friends that no nothing about the 900 and cant bad mouth them enough. I wish the guys that spent the time and loot could take their mouthy friends to small claims and make them pay for the waste of time and money. LOL. If you really want to do some wrenching though, there are tons of great mods for that machine, Spend the $$ on a confusion crank kit and DYNOPORT exhaust.
