better plug caps

as some have discovered polaris's plug caps have been less than spectacular at times. while trying to eliminate possibilities for an rpm issue (see other post) i checked my plugs. when i pulled the cap off the pto plug the cap came off in my hand. trimmed the wire back and reinstalled the cap but the metal inside the cap that makes contact with the top of the plug is black, on both caps. to me this means they have not always had a good contact with the wire and it is arcing.

so anyone know of higher quality spark plug caps? watercraft? race applications?

thanks

cory

they already sell better caps and wires. Call em or look it up on line they can hook you up.

Ditto. I use the SLP non-resistor race caps on my Doos and really noticed an improvement for spark and less fouling and arcing; I highly recommend them, especially over the cheap NGK version which never worked well for me.

Have FUN!

Happened to me last week in the bighorns, put champions in it and cut 3/8 inch of the wire and reinstalled the caps and cleaned the black out of them with gas and a Qtip.(Its all I had)Ran like a champ.

thanks for the info. exactly what i was looking for. i'll prob go with the msd ones just b/c i know they have always made good ignition products. thanks for the tip on cleaning the ones i have out also.

Push em on nice n snug, then just put a zip tie around boot, halfway down. It'll squeeze the spark plug and hold it in place.

The SLP boots (which are silicone impregnated and thus less arcing) come with boot retainers - not an issue. They are the bomb!
