Better Boards Install (Nytro) - HELP?

Lookin for some info from Rob or those who have installed BBs on a Nytro.

I have the boards cut out, but wondering about the front, foot well rivets.
See pic, the rivets I have circled in red. Do I remove these, and put them through the BBs as well? Or do I leave it alone, and keep the BBs behind this bracket and set of rivets??

Heres a few more pics of the progress. :)

I butted mine up the the metal edge of the footwell, and left the stock rivets alone.

But, I left more material than you did...it looks like you may have to utilize the 4 stock rivet holes and sandwich the BB's between.

Good luck!!

sweet i got a set comming and this is right?looks like a different picture i seen?

Left more material, where? at the front/footwell?

All the way around?

I think i'll just drill em out and put the BBs between them, Think that everything will be a lil stronger/solider that way.

Thanks guys. :) Stoked to have boards that aren't packed full of snow 100% of the time!

Update:

I got some rivets pulled.
I'm not 100% happy with how things lined up...but they are on..and seem solid. Guess only time will tell.

I notched out the rear part to fit the drop bracket bolt properly.

The front, footwell rivets didn't really go "through" the BBs...I used a washer to 'catch' the edge of the BBs...I'm not sure how this will last, I can see it potentially working loose. To do it right, I think you need to cut down the lip that tucks under the bulkhead, remove all 4 of the footwell rivets, and get the BBs snug up against the footwell bracket..drill THROUGH the BBs and good game.

The 2 outside rivets for the foot well mount also didn't end up going "through" the BBs, not sure if thats proper or not. Most of the edge rivets went through the BBs properly and seem to look OK.

I had an issue with one of the rear rivets near the drop bracket, which only 1/2 way went through the BBs..

On the otherside I think I'll make an effort to leave additional metal in the footwell, and not remove the stock footwell rivets. I really didn't like doing it the way I did it on the left side..

Anyway, the pics. :)

Me too?

How about doing that to the Rev in your trailer?:p

Looks good, how did ya cut out the original boards?

When I did mine I butted them up against the front and then all the rivet holes work just fine. I used solid rivets on mine and added about 20 on each side. The third pic shows the 2" aluminum strap I ran underneath to keep them from deforming anymore. If you are a big jumper, I would highly recommend doing the same and even shoving steel rod down the extrusion.

yeah that sounds like the way to do it, i'll do it that way on the otherside.. i really didn't gain much by trying to shove it in as far as i could...and only goofed up the rear rivet holes a bit...

i'll be leaving the stock foot well rivets on my RH side..

Thanks for the tips.

I'd rather tear down your top end than do this again. :P Maybe the rev would be easier...

I think its more work doing all this to the stock boards, than it would be to do a tunnel swap. :P Or close to the effort!
Well, as long as its not a rear mount turbo... ;)

Maybe I just have the wrong cutting tool...plasma torch would be nice. :D

I also drilled a hole for the drop bracket bolt and bolted that through the BB for even more strength...looking at your trace line, it looks like you had it where it needed to be...maybe took too much material out of the front and left nothing to rivet to?

Hope this helps with the other side, and others planning...better to take off less material, you can always trim more off.

yeah i was tryin to follow the hard to follow instuctions. I probably had enough material to rivet to.. oh well. nothing to drastic.

sorry, didnt see this before...I drilled those out, and put new ones in...I put them in from the bottom side, with backers on them...

The RH side went much better and I feel much more comfortable with how they turned out.

I stayed 'behind' the footwell rivets, things lined up much nicer and just went together a lot cleaner. I did also make an effort to leave material up front, and i bent flat some of the stock grippers..didn't turn out too bad.
