Beta 300

Anyone have any experience with a beta 300 and a track kit? Looking at a dts 129 for it. It wouldn't be an all season go hard thing. Mostly the set up days when it's hard to find good snow on a snowmobile.

We had one on an xtrainer.... you have to do something with the airbox and carb heater... for deep days we had to cover the engine or the carb would freeze even with a heater. Make sure you have a fresh top end it runs the engine hard.

This is an rr so a bit more power. I also milled the head .025 to adjust the squish to .050. made a big difference on the bottom to midrange power.

We did one with the same head mod, it ripped. But it ran really hot with a lectron on it and seized the big end of the rod. It looked like it was really lean but didn't melt the piston. The owner wasn't to keen on carb adjustment. So he put the stock carb back on in the winter and only ran lectron in Sumner. Make sure you give it lots of fuel and oil!

For sure at least 32 to 1 no matter what

Cool so it looks like it will run a track ok. Does the factory thermostat help keep it running warm? Does the charging system have enough power to run heated grips?

Hi, Beta salesman here, specializing in snow bikes. Factory thermostat isn't sufficient in my opinion, and the charging system doesn't have enough to run heated grips. I personally prefer the coolant heated bars with a switch over heated grips, but that's just my personal preference. You're headed in the right direction, though. I would recommend the head mod first for any 300's on the snow.

You need to run at least the 5-2 rod in a lectron for snowbike duty. If you have mods done, then 6-2 or 7-2 in my experience.

If you are doing any mods and don’t set it up on a dyno, run egts, check plugs etc you are taking some chances.

could ramble on for days but do a quick search on here for tips on how to make a 300 run real good

I’ve been running my beta 300 rr for 3 seasons now. 38mm HV lectron, Avis carb heater, c3 pod intake, made my own engine jacket, 6.0 fork springs+air pro bottoming kit. No problems yet except on -20 days carb will freeze if I’m holding wot
