Need some help here... Beta grenades crank and all after 20 or so engine hours... Tore apart and crank case was full of water and rusted. Cylinder the same.... It has a pod intake with a oiled k and n filter and dryfilter.... Could it have sucked in that much water.... Had a cr500 for 3 years 300 hours with just a dry filter on a timber sled intake and never had an issue? Any ideas? Also sucked the reeds into the engine...

Water not coolant? Wheres the filter located compared to the 500? Case halves sealed ok? Shouldn't get that much water in 20 hours. Used to bury our bikes in water and pull the plug and crank them over and ride all day. Although if the crank had a spot of rust then that's what made it let go.

No coolant... Filter was in its airbox but a pod . But rust in the cylinder also..

Could snow melt on the pod and run into the case after each ride?

My pod was always covered with slush, snow or ice, so I've gone back to the stock filter and airbox on my KX500.

That is the only thing I can think of... Took 4 rides in powder...

The oiled filter was probably covered in ice under the pre filter. If you put the bike inside a heated shop al the ice will melt and the water will run through the carb straight into the engine pooling in thee rusting away with acidic exhaust.
Just a bad combo. Always run a dry filter (I prefer foam) with a pre filter outside so you do not get ice accumulation in the filter pleads. Unless you can completely get your setup free of ice and dried quickly it is better to keep it frozen.
