best year rev

year

some may disagree but i think the year of rev to get would be 2006. i have had 1300 trouble free miles on mine and only went through 1 belt in 1200 miles. I guess my 07 is dialed in too but i would take the 06 before the 07. just my 2 pennies

05 was good to me, only one problem but Minor the relay that runs the hand warmers.People on here say the 06 was the year but i had good luck with the 05 and never got out climbed by a 06.:) I would have kept that sled but i wanted a turbo. I know one thing, you buy a rev and you will have a good sled that will be with Any of the new ones out there.

Those that have 06 REV's are pretty happy. The Engine is a strong runner. Stay away from any 07's unless you just want to look nice in the parking lot.

IMO '07. Only issue I have seen is the primary clutch showing premature wear, but this is easily cured. Stronger runner than the previous years by a noticable amount.

Bought an 06 new, 1200 miles never even had to change the belt. Most trouble free machine we have ever bought. Wish we would have kept it:(

Steelhead Slayer

03-05 replace rings/pistons then your ok IMO. 06's were strong runners, 07 had issues on alot of them. My 03 and my 05 went down with piston/ring issues but once 06 replacement pistons/rings were installed H. O. meant "Hang On" Just my .02

With the clutch updates I would put my 07 against anyone's stock 800. They flat out RIP !!!!!

My 07 X is a great runner no problems in 1000 miles, just had a clutching up date last year, Some people had troubles with theirs ,my sled has been great.

We were told today by the Doo Dealer that the goal for Doo this coming year is to get the '09's as reliable as the '06 model.......I love my '06 and not sure if I am ready to jump to a '09 yet.

06 Summit X

I have almost 1200 miles on my 06 Summit X and I'm still on the original belt.

I have had no major issues with the sled at all. Gas, oil, pull the rope and ride.

The sled flat out Rocks!! :D:D

Best Sled question

I have a 07 XRS 159. I've done some improvements by choice and it is one of the nicest out there. I've never been around a better running sled that looks as nice. I've added;

Boss hightop seat
Timbersled Mtn tamer suspension with the air shocks
Updated clutch
SHR clutch kit
shaved head
Challenger 2 powder track
Timbersled intake kit that replaces the airbox

It's just a nice package, goes anywhere and friends say its like riding on a cloud.

The 06's seem to be the winner. I don't think I have talked to anyone that was dissappointed in their 2006 Rev. Now the 08...I absolutely love this sled!

If it were me, I'd look for a holdover XP. By far the funnest sled I've ever owned, and I've had all the Rev's. You should be able to get one for around 8grand right now. Will save you couple grand over the 09's, and they didn't change anything you can't do under warrenty on the 08.

06 has the chrome rings, Eravs and high compression head. I have an 06 with 3000 miles and it has been perfect since day 1. I did some mods last year (BJ trail torquer kit 150hp and a clutch kit). Stronger than the 07. But the 800r in 08 is very nice. With 35,000 XP's sold this year (maybe 80% on the snow) the problems have been relatively few and are easy to cure with most on warranty. This is a good starting platform that can be made even better. There are alot of hold overs out there that a patient person can probably make a good deal on and keep for the next few years. If you have a few grand more now this could be the way to go. If not an 06 or 05 with the chrome rings.
