Best way to make side vent template? anyone has made their own?

I just took a 1 inch drill-bore bit and spaced them out as evenly as possible, leaving all the side panel in tact where it covers the secondary clutch. Drill out as many holes as you like, file and clean all the holes. I bought a large sheet of SLP pre-filter fabric for about $25-$30 and some weatherproof sealant and there you go. Both sides vented very well for about $30 and an hour of two of your time. I also drilled out the back of the side panel under the hood straps. Might not look as nice as the aftermarket kits, but works just as well, and has more strength. Pop the flo-rites in your shock towers and you're good to go.

i used paper at first then traced that onto cardboard and trimmed that a lil to get a really good fit. then i traced it onto a cheap plastic mud flap from napa i think i paid 8 bucks for it and then i used silt fence for the fabric. i used a jig saw to cut everything out too. so far so good...

I used tag board, it worked great. Then when you had your panel drawn out, I traced different hole saw patterns till I got one that I liked.. Then I taped the template onto the panel. I just punched the drill bit hole, but didn't drill into the template. Then, you have your pattern on the panel, then you can just flip the template over to do the other side.

Why do you need a template? I just measured to find out where the frame was going to be and drew lines on the side panel with chalk and used a hole saw and big drill bit to put a bunch of holes in the non frame area.
