I have tried a couple different ways to clean my cluthches but havnot been all that happy with the results.

Belive it or not... HOT soapy water.. Many threads on Dootalk about it... I just did it in my kitchen sink with dawn dish soap and grey scotch brite.

yea as said above hot soapy water. stay away from solvants there are bad.

remove the primary and secondary
if you have the tools dissassemble both sheaves, take out weights, and remove the helix.
Blast them off with compressed air
Wash them in hot soapy water and blast dry with compressed air
take grey scotchbright and really scour all the rubber marks off the sheaves if there are any (a clean and balaced clutch will have little) then wipe off the sheaves using acetone, do not use any other solvents as they dont evaporate rather stay in the metal.
Inspect your belt, weights,bushings, and buy a clutch alignment tool.
Purchase AAEN's clutch book or Cutlers clutch book and you will find that the clutching is really not so hard to understand

Primary - Take the belt off, start engine and very, very carefully run the medium scotchbrite up and down both the inner and outer sheaves until clean. Secondary - a light scuffing up with the same scotchbrite. Wipe both down with a clean, dry rag. If you've gotten any oily residue or fingerprints on the clutches, wipe them down with a clean rag that has a little brake clean sprayed on it.
