Best way to clean canvas covers?

How does everyone wash their canvas covers? Polaris recommends mild soap (aka dish soap) but I am hesitant to wash it down while its on the sled as the soapy water will soak through onto the sled which will in turn need a cleaning once the cover dries. Not exactly small enough to run through a household washer and Polaris advises against a detergent. Plus I don't want all that salt and mud running through my washer.

Anybody have any easy/solid methods I am not thinking of?

I always just left it on the sled and took a soft brush and scrubbed it real good. I then rinsed it real good and took it off and rinsed the sled. You could also take it to the laundromat and put it in one of the big machines with a mild soap.

I let it soak in a 5 gallon bucket of water and dish soap and then agitated it a little. Pull it out and spray it off with a hose and hang it up to dry. No problems shrinking or anything and gets it pretty clean. It may be a little stiff at first, but goes right back to normal, just cleaner.

Havent used a cover in a good 15 years but back when I did I would just leave the cover on the sled and go to the car wash. Wash the cover good, then remove the cover and rinse off the sled if need be. get home and hang up cover to dry. Garage door track always worked good to hook them to. Eric

I put my covers on a set of sawhorses and wipe them down with soapy water and a rag. Rinse them off in the same way. I don't want all the junk that comes off all over the sled.

I leave the crud dry then shake most of it off then power wash the sob it can take it.

Cover

I live in Dallas and trailer 2500 miles on average trip. About 80,000-85000 miles on Cover and Triton 101-10 2002. Cover was washed at carwash 4 or 5 times. Usually rain cleaned it on way back or I went to carwash. Absolutely , positively shredded on last trip. Did I say "Shredded"? Every trip 100 mph out on plains /open . Original tires. What a cover and trailer.
