Best Used snowmobiles between 4 and 5k?

Hey all,

I have been riding my old 2000 MM 700 144 (ported, piped, etc.) for awhile. She still goes fine but I think I am ready for a new / used sled. I live in the midwest and am tired of tweaking the carbs, etc. I am looking to spend about 4 to 5k. Here is my criteria:
-must be reliable
-144 to 155 track or so - would like to be able to ride in midwest as well
-efi
-either a 7 or 800cc or equivalent 4stroke

I was either thinking of the dragon 700 (have not heard good things about 800 reliability), an M8, or a nytro. I could be open to a ski-doo but have not heard great things about long term reliability. I am looking for something I can keep for 5-7 years at least.

Please provide me your unbiased opinions. Thanks for your input.

Get an 07 or 08 dragon 700. Make sure you put some money in the budget for an 09 front end update kit.

Dragon 700. Bullet proof motor. "flickable" chassis.
The black dragons are very stylish.

If you are over 250 pounds, you need an 800.

Thanks guys. I am leaning towards the m8 or d7. Considering I haven't ridden either, what is the power and handling difference? I assume they both have front coolers in case I wanted to ride in Midwest?
Thanks again, insight is appreciated.

Yes, the D7 has a front cooler. Both sleds will treat you right, D7 will also be easier on gas if that is a concern.

Id argue the IQ raw chassis is more "flickable".

I know my 2009 dragon 800 doesn't have a front cooler but I've never had a problem getting hot, I live in Utah.

With that being said, you may just want an 08-09 IQ Raw RMK 700 it'd probably have the front cooler.

If you are light weight, a 700 RMK will go practically anywhere an 800 RMK or M8 would unless it's an epic day.

When I say light weight... Im talking that you weigh 230 or less.
