best turbo kit for pump and race fuel settings

hey guys,

new around this part of snowest, and recently sole my rev 800R...want more power! and want to go for a 07-09 M8 platforum due to price, and ability to safly run turbo reliability....

looking at these 3 turbo kits for a 07-09

- twisted
- boondockers
- aerocharger/pro logic

want the ability to run on pump 75% of the time, but when i want to wick up the boost and run on race fuel for special occasions!

- need zero lag, and no intercooler

i like the aerocharger due to the instant boost, but self contained lube, expensive rebuilds, and no air filter make me scared

the twisted is getting great reviews, but i know little about the system

boondockers is pretty much a bolt on kit complete with clutching, and was just wondering if i could run the pump gas kit at higher boost and rum some 110 in it...

just looking for your feedback, and riding impressions
this is going to be expensive, and i just want to do it right once!

thanks alot for your help guys...

That sounds like our Cutler setup, VERY happy with it. I just installed the free update parts he sent me & took it out & ran it pump gas, but we can also run it up too just shy of 14 & it's tuning free at all boost levels for us, love it.

When I have a question, Dale has an answer & has never been short with me or seemed hurried, a big deal to me.

Never heard anything bad about Shain's customer service or kit either though.

I do not know much about the others but I will say that I have seen the new Boondockers set up and it is a closed system that adjusts boost for altitude, is quiet enough to meet forest service regs, has a new oil res that will not spill and has a dip stick so you always know where you are at concerning your oil level.

It really looks like a very well thought out system and if I were to buy one right now it is the one I would buy.

i' m developing a standalone unit for the m series and cfi poo and for the m i went with cpc(cutler) stage 3 race kit and all i can say is the fit and finish is impressive! you can run pump gas to any "race kit" just turn the boost down! but when you need big HP than your race kit has been design for that(bigger throttle bodies, xtra injectors, clutching ect...). imo, the most important thing on these kit is customer service.......you will need some advise, fixing, xtra parts ect and that's where lot of small shop have problems....cutler is one of the oldest cat dealer in north america and is whole life is based on this business.......just for you to appreciate fit and finish, here is a few pics of the race kit m1000 installed on our engine dyno.

go for cpc......if anything go wrong,Dale will be there for you all the time and the shop won't close the door since he is a cat dealer!

Twisted has worked for me for turning boost up or down and the clutching is very friendly for high or low boost. Attitude box is easy to tune and once set is usually forget it. Kits are so complete you may have parts left over.

after a little more searching, i have come to the conclusion that the m8 on race would be too hard on my pocketbook,

and can get the power i am looking for from a pg non intercooled m1000 kit...

what do you guys think 5-6psi and 240ish hp?

any drawback or is this too good to be true?
how does the 1000 last on boost compared to the 800?

thanks alot
paul

800 is most turbo user friendly sled out there. Be careful whose kit you choose if you do want to upgrade to more boost later. BD PG kits cost a lot to upgrade later for Race gas. Twisted PG kits only require a fuel pump/harness and a boost controller and you can run up to 10 lbs safe on 2 injectors with 50/50 race pump mix. Add a reflash on your box and 4 injector t/bodies and it is same as race kit good for 10+ lbs.

My buddy found that out the hard way! He is know converting his Boondocker pump gas to a Race gas Twisted kit for way cheaper. He also couldn't get parts from Boondocker even if he wanted to do it.

but wouldnt the 1000 engine last longer on only 5-6 psi, and having a more stout bottom end>?

800 has to have twice the psi to match power...and may not be as reliable due to the smaller bottom end>?

only benifet to the 800 would be the det sensor...i would imagine
i would be happiest with the 230-240hp on pump...thats all i would ever need!

IMHO the 800 is the more reliable engine speaking from my own experience. There have been more problems with 1000 cranks on stock and turbo than on 800s. Can't beat what the 1000 lays down for power though.

I think an M-1000 at 4 to 6 pounds of boost would last a good long time. Do some lightweight mods and you have a good handling torque monster on your hands. I'm running mine at 6 to 9 pounds with a 4 injector pump/race setup from Twi@&. I was going to talk about the Twisted kit and what comes with them, but decided not to use the word Twisted because of all the shiat that is stirred up when the name Twisted is used in a turbo thread. So officially, I decided not to use the word Twisted in this thread. Seriously, checkout all the kits, educate yourself on the merrits of each, then make your decision.

Boost is addicting!

Rtr m1000

Boondockers were running a special on the rtr m1000 pump gas kit like 5k installed that's cheap.

find a 800 race kit that can run in the trees like mine and ill switch, until that day, its all Twisted baby:cool:

My Twisted 8 runs very good in the trees also , 12 lbs is alot of fun when your going 10 or 15 mph weaving in the tight stuff. I love the 8 , but i do have a new M1 .

I cant wait to ride the 09 on 12 lbs.:D

thanks for all the replys

narrowed my search to 2 choices...

2009 m8 sno pro (1200miles)
- twisted race gas kit that can be tuned down to run pump, installed and tuned by TT themselves...
- boss seat
- ve rear bumper kit
- 2.5" track

$15500 cdn
$1200 cdn shipping

or

2008 m1000 brand new standard model $9100cdn on the snow

boondocker pump gas Turbo kit $6000

So $15100 for a brane new left over 1000, and brand new turbo kit

$1200 shipping as well and i install and tune it myself

what would you guys do?

what i like bout the m8 is that i can run pure 91 octane at 2000ft and still run safe...but i have to run 100% av 100ll fuel with the m1000 at this elevation...and thats where i mostly ride....

also, from what i hear its hard to get the bottom end bog out of the m1000 boondocker pg kits, and the m8 with twisted kit supposively has zero lag?
