Best snow bike?

Hey guys,
I ride a Pro RMK in the winter. I've been thinking about getting a snow bike to give myself more options in the winter, especially for when the snow is marginal.

So here's the big question - what should I buy? I have a 2012 CRF250r right now, but it seems like I'd need a 450+ to be able to ride the mountains. Or could I still have fun with the 250?

If i really do need a bike, should I invest in a newer chassis like a crf450, or just get something older like a CR500? I like Honda bikes although I'm open to anything.

What's the best kit for the money? Mountain Horse? Explorer? 2moto? Pros and cons to each?

I've read a bunch of threads, but if someone could kind of lay out the basics I'd appreciate it, because I'd rather not make bad decisions starting out.

In my book there are a few things that goes without saying. If you are riding mountains you can disgard all kits but Mountain Horse. They will only make you frustrated.

Regarding power. Sure u can go with your Cr250r. If you have any doubts, start with that one the first winter and make up your mind. Unless you really wanna max out where u going you will surely have a blast and also you will get a good idea on what you need and why til next season. I think everybody here can confirm that you will have a blast on your bike, but you might just not be able to go everywhere where a 450 can. Is that crucial? I don't think so. The crucial part is to have the kit so you can have as fun as we do! :yo: So buy the kit and ride what u have this year and then u can make up your mind having mindboggling fun at the same time! :face-icon-small-ton

Thanks, that's basically what I wanted to hear.

It looks like the CRF450R uses the same swing arm as the CRF250R, so i'm assuming the CRF450R should bolt up. I'll give Allen a call to find out.

cr450

I just took on a cr450f in trade that would be ideal for you. Very clean and only $1200. Thanks

I'd be up for that, except i'm all the way out in California.

I can pick a CRF450 up here for $1600 or so, not really worth shipping it and wasting a day at the DMV.
