Best skis for the nytro?

I am guessing the Elk River Dootalk ride will have a different fel this year :)

I love my simmons on my Nytro, have not tried other brands though....but the Simmons and the TImbersled front really tamed the corner lifting issues these have...

I ran the Slydog Powderhounds for most of last season and was pretty pleased with them. The floatation is great but they do get a little squirrely in the corners when the snow is set up (spring snow) . I'm guessing that the keel is little too aggressive for the harder snow. Overall, I'm pretty happy with them.

I was wondering the same thing, I had the simmons gen II on my Apex and loved them and I was wondering how they would work on the nytro. I was also wondering about the normal simmons gen I skis and maybe the powder pros.

So what mods need to be made to fit the stock nytro spindle?

You have to cut the yamaha ski stop down to make it work. You also have to cut 0ne of the steel bushings down for each side. At this point you can set your skis in or out of center. I suppose you could cut all 4 bushings if you wanted to center the ski with the spindle. Anyhow it is probably about a 30 minute job. If you get some take off skis, make sure you ask for the bolts. I think you could use the Yamaha bolts but may have to cut them off.

Smitty, do you have the Gen I's or the crazy wide ones?

I have C&A XT's and love them. They are aggressive but they float great and are bulletproof. Been using them for the last 4 years and can't seem to switch.

i tried the pilot 6.9's they were great on trail to help eliminate the twitch the mtx nytro has but, they were not that great off trail. took alot to side hill with them, and if you pulled it over too far, it would snap roll when you werent ready. almost like the outer keel prevents you from riding on one ski, unless you were snap turning.

i ended up with slydog powderhounds, with bergstrom triple point carbides and the keel saver/extenders. works well for my riding style. ski

I have the pilots on a nytro, cut down the center bushing to match the pilot ski then trimmed the four outer bushings to match, as for the rubber ski stop
I filled the center section of the ski saddle with fiberglass resin once it hardend I stuck the ski in a mill and cut down about 3/16 to match a arctic cat ski rubber and so it could not slip out.
Have a 1000 miles on this with no problems.
