Best Skid Plate for Pro

I would like some opinions on the best available skid plate for the Pro-RMK, in terms of durability, cost, and ease of installation.

The carbon fiber option from RPM Composities looks interesting. Carbon fiber is stiff relative to weight on bikes, but it's not the most durable.

Back in the day, Holeshot made an outstanding ski plate compared to the Polaris options.

thanks

Just installed a skins float plate today and it installs cleanly and fits the body work good.

thanks SkiBreeze. I am assuming you are referring to model/part number PFP300-RD? (I am assuming you went with black over red)

I also went with the black Skinz float plate, and front bumper. The front end is protected much better than stock. Some folks don't like the fact that they are a bit wider than than the stock one, I'm very happy with all my Skinz stuff.

I just went with the Polaris skid plate. The sled doesn't need the extra floatation and I could see it holding a lot of snow. Also the thin bodywork of the pro is one of the things that allows it to handle SO well. Not sure that the float plate will hinder that, but wasn't willing to chance sacrificing handling for float.

The skins fits nice and tight to the body, IMO, it will make the snow slide punder the A arms and metal bulkhead bottom. I like it alot better than the sloat plate that they make for the 11 Doo that I had.

Does the stock plate come with a metal backing plate installed inside
the hood? The Skinz plate has one, just wondering?

X2 on that!

I didn't buy it for the "float". I bought it to protect the bulkhead and front nose section. I ride almost every Saturday and Sunday and replacing bodywork can get expensive.

Nope. I had one like that on my gen 2 and hated it. It wouldn't come back after a hit. Every time I flexed the skid Plate that piece had to be bent back.

they are all very easy to install, in most cases they are just rivets. the skins looks like it covers more. for where i ride its more important as we don't get as much snow.

I am a big fan of the skid plate that Polaris offers.... right at 80$s and i have never wrecked anything underneath..IMO that i do like to mow over trees from time to time!!

Skinz Float Plate, I have one on my Pro and fits really good and more coverage than the Polaris plate.
