Best set-up for tall heavy guy on XP?

Hello, I'm tall and weigh a lot. Can someone give me some pointers on set-up for my XP? Suspension is all stock right now. I'm going to get stiffer rear springs. I also loosened the limiter strap all the way. What exactly will that do for me? It seems like it will give me a little longer footprint in the snow. My favorite thing to do is climb. What about drop brackets on the rear? Any pointers will help. Thanks
 
loose limiter strap = weight xfer...or skilis
prob not the best thing for the steep

great for boondockin in the deep (imo)

looser limiter also means a slightly sharper attack angle, but i never had that cause much of an issue. the added weight xfer made up for it
 
try a groomer, would be way more your size... :D:D:D


Jk, for sure go with the stiffer springs on it. The strap really won't get you the outcome you want, I would look into aftermarket shocks and setting them up for your size. Drop brackets on the rear could make it "tippy" for a guy your size.

Call the guys at Toms Snowmobile Service. He has a complete air shock rear skid, valved for your weight, or stiff springs for the stock set-up. I just ordered the rear Fox Float skid from them. Super nice guys and very knowledgeable. Their number is 530-862-1128

There is a kit available that replaces the rear standard shock with a float air shock. This kit can be used as a replacement for your rear springs or as a air overload helper. (Makes better ride hight and more control of ski lift) WWW.carbonsled.com

This has always been the rule, to tighten the strap to keep the front end down but it is not bad on the xp compared to many other sleds. I loosened mine all the way and I prefer it even when climbing. The idea is that if I don't make it on a climb, with the skis 3-4 inches off the snow, it is much easier to whip the sled around and not get stuck 1/2 way through your turn. I had an M-10 suspension a couple years ago and I hated climbing with it as it always left me stuck facing up the mountain. With the strap loose and the front skid spring tight, the rear springs don't work as hard and you will find that the rear sag is diminished. Keep in mind BRP messed up with the limiter straps (at least in 08) as when you loosen the strap, it does nothing. The shock fully extends before the strap gets tight. For this reason, I also moved the lower mount forward 1 inch on the front skid shock. It was a simple new hole in the rails to do this. IMHO it may come down to your riding style that helps you decide.
