best programmer for 01 cummins and an intake question

well i bought an 01 dodge cummins last week and have already started tinkering. i have already straight piped it to open it up a bit more but i will eventually go to a 4 or 5" straight turbo back. anyways what would be a good choice for a programmer. i dont want something that will pull too much fuel pressure or take out my torque converter or tranny. i like edge juice with attitude becasue you can keep tabs on so many different things. i mainly want to keep an eye on boost egt and fuel pressure(stock lift pump ). i know it can make you a lot of power but i dont need 120 more hose lol and i know if i get it i wont be able to keep my finger off the 5th setting and my foot off the floor lol. i have been leaning more towards the Edge Power Edge EZ. gets ya 65 more horse and a little better mileage. if i went with that one i would get the pillar gauges to keep an eye on things. what is your opinion on programmers?

Intake: has anyone built their own cold air intake? i was thinkin about buildin my own air box and getting a cone filter and bang. i just saved myself $300. i just cant bring myself to spend $350 on an intake i could build myself.

Edge EZ Comp box or the Edge Juice with attituge, nice thing about the juice is that you have the guages built right in. As far as power gains, the comp box makes more power, but none of the programmers or fuel modules make as much power on a dyno as they claim. My buddy made an intake out of an old road sign and a AFE filter, filter costs about $120 and of course the sign was free, saved him a couple hundred anyway. just buy the juice with attitude and dont tap the pump wire.then you have an edge ez with gauges and a boost fooler.will just change injection timing and duration. but its a good bump from stock.if you change your mind and decide to go with pillar gauges then take a look at the ts mvp.

drag comp made a 160 add hp @ the rear wheels compared to it being off.. that was with jammer 4 injectors,twins built auto.with stock injectors gains will be smaller.

I also forgot to add you really need to consider the fact the juice with attitude has a turbo timer, defuel settings, warning presets. hard to beat the value in it not to mention when your ready for more fuel all you have to do is tap the pump wire.

the edge juice w/attitude is a great choice. i have an edge comp drag box on my 02 that i got from spring snow hero on here after he sold his truck. for the intake the way to go is the napa 2790 filter imo.

i think i paid about $50 for the filter and had the diamond plate laying around the shop. i took about 30 minutes to put in and it sounds like the turbo is in the glove box, it really whistles

save some money for a torque converter; the stock ones won't take much more power!! I bought a Suncoast and am happy with it.
