Best place to stay--Mc Call, Cascade area?

There's very few places you can stay where you can ride from the hotel. What are you looking for, Holiday Inn, B&B, cabin, or upscale?

Realistically, your looking at trailering. Here's the standard lodging list: Lodging McCall

The Holiday Inn is new. The motel 8 isn't bad. There's an old Best Western (western mountain lodge) across the street from Holiday Inn. There all in town.

You might hit these guys up. accommodationservices
They have cabins.

But, there is one B&B that is right across the street from a snowmobile parking lot. I've eaten there, but never slept there. It used to be very upscale. You might check it out. Prices seem reasonable, but not cheap. meadowoodlodge

I'm sure someone will come on here and tell us why it sucks. It's out of town, a good 10 min drive back to town.

Sorry that's all I know.

I have stayed at the old Best Western (Western Mountain Lodge) many of times, but I have found that staying in vacations rentals are more reasonable and more relaxing. Accommodationservices.com and Inidaho.com are good places to check out houses, butmake sure that the houses will have the space for trailer parking or let you. there are a few houses that will have trail access, but I have found it easier to get a place in town (gas, food, etc). Been checking them out and they are getting snatched up already.

Hey...

...we stayed at the Motel 8 about a month ago while on a bike trip. The motel was pretty nice, the management didn't mind us dragging a bunch of furniture outside for a BS session, and they were friendly. The only thing I didn't like is the M8 is almost out of town on the south end (right across from the airport) so we had to ride back into town for eats. If we'd planned ahead  we could have solved this. I'm just bringing it up because if you are hauling a trailer there isn't much parking downtown......
There was plenty of room for parking a trailer at the motel. I've never ridden the Mc Call area so I'm not sure which way you want to head out of town....
All I know, hope it helps fill up the info pool!

You will probably want to park at Francis Wallace Parking lot. It's the best I think. Go up to U and take copet creek.

You can also park at West Face, or Goose Creek Falls Trail. West is a long ride to the meadows. Goose is high altitude parking, but limited parking, and a bear to get in and out when it's snowing.

Head up to Twin Lakes, Slab Butte (take the road at W), Duck Lake. All those areas are killer.

Having stayed at most of the hotels the Huntsman is #1 cept of course our own houses and condos. We had the king Kaimaima sweet for European Customer Appreciation Days and it was the shiznit. If we get good low elevation snow conditions the riders spread out nicely then it doesn't matter. If you know your way around you can even ride from the NE side of the lake residences without running sideways with the law. There are regs listed in your trail brochure concerning such things. Remember no matter how you go about it the riding is still a minimum of 7 miles from town and closer to 20. Most trailer for that reason to Francis Wallace at end of lake or upper lot at Brundage. The one certain ride from your room is the Bear Lodge on the hwy towards Brundage. (that one I haven't stayed at and really don't even know if they are still a concern...but it is right at the base of Brundage Mt. Any way you go about it you get to ride some trail to the honey.

actually bear creek and meadow wood are separate concerns.

meadowwood has new ownership.

bear creek is for sale. they have been closed to general public last couple of years, but a VERY nice place if you can afford to do the private thing.

Is it a business, or a family, or a couple of random persons? Who owns Brundage ski hill? They give sledding on that side of the mtn big trouble but that is self-servituded (Scrabble up that mofo!) elitism (snowcat skiing)

Brown Industries and the Simplot co started Brundage way back when. Simplot sold their share to Brown Industires a few years back. Brown Industries is now run by Judd Debore he is the husband of the oldest Daughter to the Brwon Industries business. As Doug said I would stay away from anything that has to do with anything Judd is involved in. He is hard core anti snowmobiling and has been a major force in trying to limit snowmobiling or eliminating it from Granite Mtn, Slab Butte etc.

As for other options for lodging New Meadows also has a couple Motels, neither are upscale but they are clean. 3 Mi trailering to the Wallace parking lot which also goes to all the brundage, granite country. Another riding area is at Price Valley Parking area 7mi from NM. This is all back country Non groomed riding. If you like to boondock and blaze your own trail it is a hoot. It accesses the Lick Creek, Smith & Pollock Mtn areas. There is also a hot springs just outside of New Meadows called Zimms. Great place to soak your bones after riding. Good luck on finding a place.:beer;

New Meadows is for sure a great option. The local politicians REALLY desire tourism, and go out of their way to make tourists welcome.
The politicians over there are also TOTALLY supportive of fighting for public land rights.

The wallace lane trail is a sneaky, backyard locals only trail that is quicker to good riding then almost anything in the entire area. Neat place.

For another place to stay, my buddy Patrick and Larisa Connolley have their McCall home they have been renting out for weekends or week usage. It is just up the hill from the marina, easy crawling home distance from Chapala. Plenty of trailer parking, they say it sleeps 6, and is very clean and very nice.
They only want 130 a night. plumbpat@frontiernet.net
They are working on a hot tub for the winter, so if anyone knows a great deal on a clean hottub, let him know!

thanks also

I also want to say thanks to everyone for the info on this thread. 4 of us are heading that way for four days in March, meeting some guys from WA. The deal on a house we had fell through, so we needed to find something. We haven't got a place to stay yet, but at least now we have some ideas. Its going to be a great trip, can't wait.

Oh, and which are the best bars in McCall?

Thanks guys.
