Best place to mount scratchers?

Hey, I've heard mounting scratchers on the skis was a good idea has anyone else heard this? If not, put them as close to the front of the rail as possible right? Thanks!

I took the wheels off a the front of my rails and mounted my scratchers in the same holes. Then I just left the little anchor "L" over the rail instead of drilling new holes. Works perfectly, when they're up they bend right around the torsion bars out of the way.

It might depend on rail length. On my 144's the wire style scratchers just didn't fit well so I ended up making some for the skis.

I would be cautious of just mounting them with the holding ear over the top of the rail. I have seen where this puts too much tip pressure when down and the tips break off sooner. They are designed to be mounted in two almost parallel holes. The "free" mount, if you will, where the scratcher can rotate backwards in reverse is nice, but you would need to make a mount so the pivot bolt would be higher as well.

Volcano Buster has the right idea if you can mount them that way but yes, the more further forward on the rail the better. As long as the snow is hitting the snowflap and then throwing it onto your track.

You can also mount them on the skis. I have had customers do that and it does work. Here is a pic.
