Best place for a "sled camp" in the eastern Rockies?

Working on putting a group together to build a shop house "sled camp" somewhere in the eastern Rockies. Everyone lives in the Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota area so we'd like something closer than say Idaho for the drive. We plan on leaving our sleds out there. One guy has a pilots license and a decent sized plane so a reasonable sized airstrip would be a bonus. Some amenities (good food, night time entertainment) would be nice as well. But the #1 thing is AWESOME SNOW! What's everyone's opinion on the best place to tackle such a project?? Thanks in advance!

Saratoga wy. Has a air port and great riding. If I had then funds that is what I would do.

Probably Laramie.

Saratoga would be nice, but it's on the other side of the hills, so not as good/safe for airplane. Laramie most likely isn't a walk in the park with the wind they get.

How good of plane and pilot might determine where you go? Getting up and over the Rockies safely takes a high dollar plane.

I would choose Walden, CO. That give you access to The Snowys and Buff and Rabbit ears all within about an hour. Decent little airport. Could probably buy a little place in walden on the cheap with a garage.

He has a Cirrus SR22T, so no lear jet by any means but still gets the job done.

We've always thought Walden was about our best option. Buff and rabbit ears don't disappoint very often! Was just wondering if anybody had any other ideas we weren't thinking of. Always nice to get other people opinions:face-icon-small-hap
