Best option for replacement tracks

I know this has been gone over a million times but I can't seem to find much info on it now when I need it the most. I recently just tore all the lugs off my second compeiton track and now looking for the best option for my riding style. I live in Iowa ride alot of trails and the river but take 2-4 trips out west a year and would like to take more. I emailed trackusa and they said for direct bolt on I could either get the 1.75 ripsaw or 2.5 challenger extreme. Whats everyones opinion on this and is there any other track that would be a better fit for me. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have the 2.5 CE and it works awesome. I dont trail ride alot though. If you do go the CE plan on getting the front cooler removal kit. I needed it on mine.

No but its so close that it make it extremely difficult to get the drivers on. I took the bogey wheels off and put on ice scratchers and dont have any cooling problems.

"Not Rubbing" and "Proper clearance" are two different things.

What sled and length track do you have?

If this is the Assault 146 and you are doing so much "Cross over" riding with heavy trail use... Much of your lug failure is due to speed... the ch Ext will not be much better in that department.

I recommend a simple driver change (Avid or Wahl)... and run the #9087 2" lug Powder Max 146 x 15 x 2"lug ... Although this will not "Bolt In" it will, IMO, give you what you need.

It is a 2.86" pitch track BUT there are only 4 rows of involute drive nubs that would require a Wahl no slip or Avid (not the 'cat' style).

Next year that #9087 WILL be made as a bolt in for the 146's....when Camoplast does next years production run.

This track runs very well, we've installed it on two local sleds, and I feel that that It would meet your needs perfectly for your type of riding.

For an Iowa ditch banger/trail rider/mountain user... I would not recommend deleting the front cooler...Straight mountain... just fine IMO.

As a "Bolt in" with NO other changes... TracksUSA is giving you perfect advice. Bruce knows what he is doing!!

Here's some pix for you of the #9087 in the Assault... Stellar track!! :D:D:D

Thank you, this info is huge in helping my decision. Do you know off hand how much the driver that you have purchased? Also wheres the best place to get this track and how much?

YES, Go with the CE, anti ratchet, and anti stab. You will love the set up. I went from a 155 to 163. This thing rips!

7 tooth vs 8 for clearance

Did anyone try the 2.86 pitch 7 tooth Avid drivers when installing a Challenger Extreem 2.5 to gain a little clearance? Polaris Dragon 163... How did it work?

Is the anti stab kit different for the PRO rails? I remember something about trimming a little extra for the Avid Drivers to work?

The better route to go would be to go with the 3.0 pitch 7 tooth new style drivers from Avid and run the 156" or 162" 2.5 Challenger Track or the 153" or 162" Powerclaw.

No difference for the anti stab kit as you trim the rails regardless. The only thing I can think of you might be thinking is the 7 tooth drivers won't work on a Pro. They would rub the chaincase.

Thanks Mr. Diamond

Traction on set-up snow and better grip downhill are my main concerns... heard that CE was better than PC for the downhill.

Is the 3.0 pitch to fit the new 9175 track? Or is it a smaller diameter (vs 2.86) - or both?

There was a thread on the diameters of the drivers with different configurations. I’ll search…

Kinda wondering if anyone ran this set-up to see if it was enough to help with the clearance and snow evacuation issues? without the expense and alteration of the D&R kit.

I'm running the Powerclaw and I've had no issues whatsoever with that whole downhill traction non-sense. I went with the FTX D&R and 8 tooth 3.0 pitch drivers. The P.C works good in the heavier coastal snow.

EricW is running the set-up I spoke of with the 3.0 pitch 7 tooth drivers and the C.E...I know he likes it and it's an inexpensive (and alot less work) way to gain the clearance desired. Mountainhorse's old sled ran this set up also.
