I have an 2007 153 m1000. I am not happy with the way the sled preforms in the light fluffy snow. I ride with a couple m7's and they seem to be right there with me most of the time or even ahead of me in the right condtions. My sled has 2300 miles and the track is cupped pretty bad, but all lugs are there. I am thinking a powder claw might help and maybe regearing or rear suspension changes. I usuallt ride in Cooke City or Togwotee

The mods the sled had this past winter were-
Bikeman head
2008 reflash
3 tower clutch
speedwerks can
large air horn
slp powder pros
2 wheel kit
fastlane no sno boards
oles riser 3.5
side vents

new this spring (have not used it since)
rebuilt engine (crank bearing went out on last trip)
2009 reflash
shift assist

Get the 09 ecu reflash, it will change your ride completely. Aftermarket intake and the powerclaw.............

OK

Been where your at
Junk the track and get the PC.
Your secondary needs help backshifting
( shift assist helps but not the answer)
Get a Timberline suspension

Ya don't need all this but you will sure like it better

If you cannot beat a M7- something is wrong

LOSE WEIGHT! BDX intake, lite drive, and rear bumper. The TIMBERSLED Mtn. Tamer rear suspension will drop a lot of weight and drasticly improve weight transfer. The speedwerx tunnel dump muffler is the only way to go if you ride much deep fluffy powder.

2nd that! imo, modified stock intakes loose power and cause a lean bog. Speedwerx plenum is the worst. Either run the stock horn and extra flowrites in the hood. Or go with a BDX, i luv it. and you can gut the hood saving 7-8lbs. Boss seat, saves 9+lbs, and the 09 flash is WAY better than 08, well worth the 10min of work. The PC will put the power to the ground, without trenching. gearing might be the key, whats your elev?

Thanks for the info. I have the 09 reflash and hope it will help, but I have not had a chance to try it yet along with the new engine and shift assist. In 08 I got my three tower clutch under warranty, so I had to have the 08 reflash. It made my sled run worse. I think my 1st priority will be a power claw and then an BdX air intake. I would like a Timberline suspension, but they are a lot of coin. I will have to check out Hatdays to see what I can find.

sell the boat anchor...

i got tired of that sled blowing up, sold it and the guy who bought it blew it up (stock)

buy the '09 or '10. it will restore your cofidence in AC again.

It was only blowing up because of the 07 fuel map. Like I said above get the 09 reflash on your ecu..............

if your gonna mod it i would stay away from the 09 reflash i did that from the stock 07 mapping with the head ported cylinders pipe combo bdx air intake it made it run terrible I just had my box flashed to an 08 its the best i could do after the first flash it ran terrible in the mid range i also think they backed the timing off in 08 and 09 but I could be wrong jmo

I've had two cats with the bdx intake and had both of them suck so much powder they would'nt even run. finally went back to stock on my M1 to get away from plugin the intake.

Power Claw or A-20

I thought most people did not like the A-20's. I wonder how an m1000 would handle with one vs. the stock challenger. I heard these tracks are good for staying on top of the snow, but how do they climb.

The A-20 is still one of the best powder tracks available along with the Powerclaw.
For deep powder, they will outclimb the stock challenger.
From my experience, when the stock track starts to dig in, the A-20 keeps you on top of the snow and alows you to keep going.
My 1000 is a 153... Last year I swithced the camo to a straightened A-20 in HC position and it was better in most conditions.
This year I will be running it in powder position and once it lays over I will post back on the results.

The reason most people do not like the A-20 is because it is a one dimensional track... It works great in the powder but can be dangerous in hard pack conditions.(spins)
The powerclaw adressed this issue with the outer "claws" on the track to help it perform in more set up snow conditions.

My choice would be the powerclaw, but at the time I got an A-20 for 75 bucks vs a powerclaw for 520.

Killerk is right on. I run the attack 20 on my my M-1000. Great combination on those really deep soft days. Primarily while it's still snowing. I haven't used a power claw on this sled so I can't say for sure, but in my opinion the attack 20 is the best soft snow track to date. Well, for the kind of snow for Colorado and Utah anyways. If it was my only sled, I'd use a power claw. But luckily I have an M-8 with a 141 power Claw for all other days.

Its funny how once in a while people agree and have the EXACT same experiences.:beer;:beer;:beer;
Dry Utah fluff... See the same thing and I love the A-20.
My brothers m-7 cutler 1000 W/141 A-20 turns a lot of heads in the steep and deep.

Pas buddy on his M-8 153 PC floats and climbs throught the light stuff effortlessly and has no problem hooking up in set up snow.

The A-20 can scare the chit right out of you in hard conditions.
If you know what to expect, you can deal with it.
When you pucker you're body produces more adrenalin... Not a bad thing as long as you pull it off IMO!

Agreed....

The A-20 , if turned around backwards from the START, is a tough track to beat... I feel it to be the best all around track out there ONLY if it has never been run in the powder position.. Once it has been run in the powder position and then flipped.. it becomes a "not so good" track and I think this is where it gets its bad rep from .. But, if you never run it forward.. it is the "bomb"

biggest help will be a PC. But, I had a 07 with slp pipe set and bd box with larger intake cone, and a challenger track and not even a ported piped 08 m8 would keep up with it. Scared a cylinder and still out climbed the m8's and m7's I ride with in cooke. I think you have other problems, clutching most likely.
rebuilt the motor 3 times before I finally put it back to stock and sold it. 09 or newer is the only way to go.
