best mods for a rev

i have a 2004 ski doo summit x 800 and wondering what are the best mods for it. And what will make it sidehill beter and lay over easyer.

the biggest gain for the mountain is the 2.5 Camo with 7 tooth avids.Really depends on your level. The Alternative Impact new direct bolt on A arms have 37 inch stance and carve like butter.Work very well.money well spent as it will save your Nun as well.

My 04 REV-X 800 151: Add a 3" bar riser, remove the sway bar, remove pipe clam shell and ceramic coat the stock pipe, install better boards, D^Js clutch kit, 19/45 drive sprocket in chain case, remove boggie wheels, two stock rear wheels. R&M Axess high rise seat(7.5#), SLP cold air intake and SLP hot air vents, remove the plastic clutch shield, hole saw a 1.5" single port in track, Slydog or Simmons skis (anything other than stock) and OEM skid plate.

The weight savings is about 26# with the sock suitcase can. I have an SLP ceramic coated can I ran to save more weight(-12#) but reinstalled my stock can to conform to Colorado's 88Dba sound requirements--and found more mid range power and better fuel economy--I still have it if you're interested.

The REV requires alot of chassis experimenting to get the best balance for your snow type. It also requires alot more rider input than you trailing arm Polaris--however, once you master this sled you will really enjoy it.

154 2.5 camo track. roosterbuilt clutch kit. ceramic coating give's it a much snappier throttle but would keep the clam shell on the pipe. bigbore is alot of money but will give it alot more. with the right clutching and a 2.5 camo, the stock motor will take you all over the mtn.

bighucker, these guys are giving you great advice! The motor thing was kind of a joke... more hp helps in all situations!

If it were me I'd do a clutch kit and narrow up the front end...then if money allowed a 2.5 CE track and drivers as mentioned.

Been reading the other thread and these sound great. Where exactly does one measure width? Center line of mounting plates? Center line on spindles? Out to out on spindles? Out to out on skis?

Sorry :focus:

Well I rode my 04 project sled yesterday for the first time... it's pretty much totaly stock and the #1 mod on the list is to get some running board inserts.

My 1000 has the WRP boards on it and they are night and day over stock. Does not matter what brand you get ... just get some XXXmod rods, WRP, and better boards are a few good brands.

If your looking for basics, I observed.
Upgrade your shocks/skid.
Clutching, my 04 is snappy down low but lacks holding power and back shift.
Skis, mine has simmons on it and I don't like them. Get some skis that fit your riding style and snow type.

My plan is
827 or 840 big bore
New skid (Timbersled)
New BRP remaned crank
163" track
37" alternative impact arms
Powder pro skis
Fox floats or another quality shock ... maybe zero pros with tie springs
Vanamburg tunnel extension 144-163 I'll do a complete tunnel if $ allows.
New T- stearing post ... mine is flat top
Bars and risers
Clutching
Drop and roll, templates
8 tooth extro drivers

Oh and running boards.

This was my first year with my new to me 04 Summit X. I've riden it about 25-30 days this last winter and the one item that has driven me nuts since day one is the running boards due to there filling & packing full of snow. I plan to change them out this summer with a set of XXX Mod Boards. There are other modifications I wouldn't mind doing like a can or upgraded track and drivers, but the running boards IMO are a mandatory modification for these sleds if you ride in any kind of powder like they are ment to.
