just to compare and contrast.....

i had my m1000 ported by rick at peak powersports and shaved the head. my pistons were close to crap so while he was in there he gave me 2 new ones (SPI).

1.1 mile from the trailer 2 weekends ago it seizes....ugh.

Turns out it was a manufacturer defect. They realized it when SPI sent the new pistons again and they were the exact same size. so...they have to recall the batch...check your specs before you drop them in the hole.

Full rebuild no charge.

I am a little puzzled. This mechanic put in pistons and didnt check clearance/fit before bolting it together?

yep, new rookie in mod shop used to popping in OEM stuff and never worrying about specs... (or never trained to check).

I asked the same question and was told that it was used as a learning exercise and wont happen again.

point is they did the right thing and as long as my crank doesnt fail this winter, we're good.
