Just curious to see what everyone has and whether or not you like it or not. It would be nice to have one that has a map for the Snowies. So far, my research has led me to the Garmin eTrex Summit HC...is that a good one for sledders?

Garmin

:D I bought the E Trex Summit HC this year so far its worked great, like the color screen, only thing I dislike is the limited internal storage capacity ( wish it had the card)

I have the Garmin eTrex Legend cx. I ordered it through Cabelas, I chose them as they were selling it as a package deal with the downloadable topo maps. I ride the snowies and the Topo maps I have downloaded work awesome. It is easy to use and nice and compact. Color screen and will take the optional card, so plenty of storage.

Garmin 60CSx is the best I've had so far (memory, screen, battery life, fuctionality, more). Google 'geocache' and you find lots of reviews.

i have the garmin 530 HCX it works great. still figuring it out . you can get topo maps for it too. the 5w radio worked everywhere we have been :beer; :beer;

Garmin RINO series, there are many different models to chose from. They are hands down the BEST gps for outdoors, fourwheeler, sledding, hunting, fishing. The two way radio is great and the fact that it shows you on the map where the person is that you are talking to is PRICELESS!!!! You also can poll their location (depending on model) and find them in the trees when they disapear and get stuck.

Just got my Rino 530, what a smokin cool unit. I had an old magellan that was ok, but this thing is impressive, I took it out of the box, let it initialize and took turn by turn directions from my shop to my house, and it was nuts on!
GMRS/FRS radio, mapping, and a color screen. I wont leave home without it any more. Ive never been lost before, but I am sure I never will with this thing. The radio, altimeter, and compass make it invaluable for 400.00
carry one unit, and have it all

Have a Garmin 60CS, replaced by the 60CSx. Had owned an Etrex prior, the 60 series I found better overall. Like already said, check out the latest from Garmin, the Colorado series.

a nice feature of the 60csx is that if you mount it in a ram-mount on the dash of the sled you can easily operate the buttons without removing the unit because the buttons are on the face of the unit rather than the side....I have an etrex summit which has been great for the last 5 years, a rino 120 that I never use because it eats batteries, sometimes 9 in a full day and this year I'm using the 60csx.....which i like the best..the track log will hold several rides without erasing over itself...on my summit I have to remember to save my track every 30 miles....one thing I do not like about the 60 csx is that it will not work with my DeLorme TOPO 3D software as the summit and rino do...so you have to use Garmin's mapsource. The Colorado is nice but the buttons are on the side and I don't need to transmit wireless to other units, which is the feature that is unique to the unit.

Another vote for the 60series..! If you don't need the 2way radio feature, you won't be dissapointed...great battery life, good screen in xtreme cold, and pretty tough/durable overall..hard to beat. For an inexpensive unit, it works pretty damn good for flying too!
:D

love my 530 rhino talk to buds and if lost can backtrack out .lots of battery life never had less than 50% after three day rides

bing, I gotta agree 100%. Nothing like talking to your riding partners to find out where they are stuck at or to tell them where you are stuck at. It is very useful.

nice avatar btw :D

I prefer Garmin over everything else. Mine is the GPS MAP 60CS-X with a larger sd card so I can store all the map data bases. Wouldn't think of buying any other brand. Although the Rhino's with the two way radio and locating thing is pretty sweet.
