Best Fire Starter Product Ever!

Just met with this gentleman on getting him product liability insurance. He bought a patent on fire starter...
Its called Insta-Fire There web site is www.instafire.com this stuff is amazing, he showed me when I was there, he took a hand full of this stuff and lit it up and there was a flame 12-16 inches tall burning for 20 minutes and he put the stuff right on top of snow. Right now its in 5 gallon buckets but by summer he will have it in small waterproof packets. This will be a must in your sled or backpack. The product is awesome! He will be at the outdoor sportsmens expo this summer and im trying to get him at next years snowmobile show in Salt Lake.
Check it out or even call him!!
~Tell him Jeremy told you about it, he will hook you up!

I carry a couple tampons in my pack (here's comes the ribs now....) just dip 'em in the tank of can on the back and light it up. Saw it on here some time back. Get some chit for carrying them:D

Trioxane

I always pack a small sealed package of Trioxane compressed fuel in my pack.

This stuff is really good also. Cheap and last forever. ($0.95 for three packages)

Works well enough that my son's boyscout troop took first place in a obstacle course challenge last weekend. One of the events was to light a fire and boil water. They got it done in 50 seconds with this stuff. Kept burning till it hit dirt through the snow.

These are amazing fire starters, and at the end of the day if you survived without needing a fire, they go great with beer!
(Try lighting one, you will be amazed at how easy they light and how long they burn. Most any fried chip will work but Fritos are the best fire starter, and its cheap!)

Im with mule and cc rider I carry a 15 min road flare, $1.00 will save your life. You have 15 minutes of 2000+ degree flame, that should start about any wood on fire as long as its not to wet. They dont take up much room in your pack. All of my riding partners carry them also.

I'm with ya. And drier lint, and a magnesium stick.

I need to get myself a Magnesium bar to add to my pack. Looks like it's way more reliable than a lighter that can get wet or matches.

I was leery about carrying full sized flares in the pack but you're right, they do burn very hot for a while and should start just about anything on fire!

I've heard that cotton balls with Vaseline mashed into them are excellent fire starters. Sound's like a mess in the back if the bag breaks though.

I have actually lit a frito chip once and it does burn very well.
Then I blew it out and ate it!

MMmmm hot blackened Frito! ;)

Cool thread...some pretty ingenius ideas. Have done the flare and tampon and magnesium, but never heard of the triox whatever, the Fritos or my favorite, dryer lint! That's McGyver territory right there!

If you like lint, add a fabric softener sheet. It flares up and burns fairly good as well.

dryer lint.

Best fire starter ever, and it's free....

Hate to highjack :D but this is why EVERYONE should get their dryer vent in their home cleaned out! Leading cause of appliance fire in the US with over 20,000 homes a year consumed due to lack of dryer vent maintenance.
If your in Boise and need this done hit me up:D
