best clutch plates

I think my clutch died, what are you big power guys, and average I guess, running for aftermarket clutches/plates.

im thinking the hinson kit with the upgraded spring (which I already have, but want a fresh one) or the barnett one?

what do you guys figure? I do not want to go rekluse.

2013 ktm 450sxf with 520 big bore.

these snowbikes seem to be hard on clutches. 44 hours on mine. rotella t6 0w40 changed every 2 rides.

clutch'n it

dans big bore like yours after three years needed clutch plates, went aftermarket, biggest issue is I think his 280 bellville spring in the clutch was fagging out. New 280 bellville washer and $70 of clutch plates his bike went from soft feeling power to wheelies. yeah that big a difference, realized his clutch was slipping all the time this last year.

I put the 280 lb bellville washer in my ktm500.........woops, my clutch had been slipping tooo. instantly noticeable, felt like you had increased bottom end power, we will be watching that a lot closer in the future.

yeah thats the thing with clutch springs... they slip 2% each day and you dont notice. pretty soon youre running 75% power/clutch and still dont notice till you throw a brand new one in!

I have the hinson belleville spring... not sure what weight it is for but I will definitely replace that or upgrade it to an even stronger one if needed as well as new plates. I cant wait!

I'm not drinking the koolaid so I don't know about the Bellvue spring deal, but what I was going to say is on all my 500's I find the spring pressure makes more of a difference than the plates. My trail AF I run stock springs because I don't really need it to hook up all crazy and it's not under that big of a torque load riding rocky singletrack. My sand 500 and my snow 500 I run heavy spring packs. all are currently on a tusk heavy duty clutch and so far so good. we don't have a lot of snow this year so I am only on ride 5 with the snow bike and the sand bike I only ride a few times a year so it's on 2 rides. I have a bunch of rides on the trail AF 500 and that bike I am always slipping clutch...its been hanging in there.

the belleville is a washer type spring in the center. if you laid it flat, the center is like 3mm off the ground versus the outside edges. same concept as a lock washer. when you tighten it it acts as a spring to keep the clutch plates held together versus 6 smaller springs like your setup.
