Mountain Models

GGB Lightweight Mountain mufflers provide a huge weight savings with an aggressive exhaust note. Each system fits securely in the stock location and weigh in at a mere 3.5 - 6 pounds each. Muffler is finished in a high heat satin black and installs without any modifications. This Mountain muffler is designed specifically for use in areas where increased sound levels are not an issue.

Trail Models

GGB Trail mufflers offer a true, trail tuned sound that won't draw unwanted attention or leave you "sound fatigued" at the end of the day. Each system is designed to fit securely in the stock location, using stock mounts and weigh between 5 -7.5 pounds each. All GGB trail mufflers are built with sound control in mind and offer awesome performance without all the noise. Each muffler is finished in a high heat satin black and installs without any modifications.

Our tests were taken 3 feet from exhaust outlet at a 45° angle back, 1 foot off the ground. Unfortunately this is not how the SAE or enforcement perform the test but it gives a comparison. We will perform proper tests this winter.

Tested - 2012 RUSH 800

Idle 3500rpm (just before engagement)
Stock - 86 94
GGB Trail - 90 97
Mountain - 91 104

The Trail can will meet SAE J-2567. The Mountain can will not.

SAE standard test 88 decibels

*Jan. 2004 SAE J2567 stationary test overview: The sound meter microphone is placed 4 feet above the ground, inline with the exhaust outlet/center point of multiple exhaust outlets, on the side of the snowmobile toward which the exhaust is directed, 4 meters distance from the snowmobile longitudinal centerline. The operator holds the brake during the test, starts and runs the engine up to normal operating temperature, then slowly opens the throttle until a steady 3,750 to 4,000 rpm is achieved for not less than 4 seconds. The test is immediately repeated and the two readings averaged.

Please, please, please..... Don't run loud cans (any brand) on public lands.

Loud cans close riding areas. Don't ride with a loud can and then wonder why the greenies are winning. Don't let your friends ride with loud cans either.

Does the extra CLAIMED hp make you a better rider? Will it matter when riding areas are closed?

Rant over....

Flame on.

I run the J&T can on my 2012 Pro. It is loud, but sounds great. I love to blast my buddies when they are pulling me out and I make a left hand turn. Their ears are ringing. Almost makes it worth getting stuck!!

Seriously though...I bought my J&T can at Rexburg Motor Sports. Sound is really good. Fit and finish are as good, or better, than any I've seen.

EXACTLY! There are alot of people fighting to keep riding areas open. Help them out by NOT running load cans and giving greenies more ammo.

Excellent Murph. But don't restrict it to just public lands. Private lands also.
Much of our trail system here is on private land. I am one of those private land owners. Believe me, loud sleds are a problem and do cause trail closures. If anyone thinks it can't happen to your favorite riding area, your living in la la land.

Stock is fine, specially on the Pro.

We'll all be riding illegally in a few years anyway. /shrug
More laws our country can't afford to enforce...
I'm sure us 1-3% (powersports enthusiasts/activists) are really the true problem to the global pollution issue. </sarcasm>

Spend the $ to strip the stock pipe/can and cerma-coat it instead. Save a couple lbs, better perf, cooler temps, and still have bearable volumes.

Seen this on a dyno Most cans do nothing, Zero nadda for HP gains. Some even loss HP. Dyno Tech did a pipe shoot out, and most all pipes made the most HP on the stock muffler. I get the want for a different sound, but truly there are no gains....Maybe a few 2-5lbs lost. And Really, do you notice that? Thats 1 gallon on fuel......

That being said, I was going with HPS from what I have read. I just wanted a different tone from stock to be different, but not offensive.

loud cans do close trails here in Minnesota. I have seen land owners do this first hand and it sucks that one guy (the loud one, not the owner) can close a trail that thousands use. respect the land owner. however, loud cans are a almost a must have for the mountains, where there are no people except sledders. forget any power claims. that's crap. loud cans are safer in the mountains! it is essential to know where the people in your group are at all times. its very difficult to hear a stock sled. example: one guy in our group with stock can became separated from the rest of us and got stuck bad. we drove by him for hours fearing the worst. even though he was revving his engine, we could not hear him. the next trip the same guy did the same thing, however, this time he had a can and we found him right away. my .02

To each there own guys. We all enjoy ridding and don't want more areas closed, that's why they also make a can that keeps it to stock sounds. Look at the trail can if noise is a issue in your area.

Buy a radio?
Or better yet a rino radio?

What if that same guy seizes a motor and is lost? That loud can won't help you find him then.

2 way radios are > loud cans...anywhere.

And...a brighter colored sled helps more than a loud can ever will for finding a stuck sled in the trees. ;)

murph
funny you say this... i just picked up a few radios. my buddy is still a moron and will probably forget to charge the radio. you can't fix stupid

"That guy" will only ride with me once. Twice if I'm an idiot. I won't tollerate those that just wander off and disappear repeatedly. That is a big no-no in the backcountry.

Also for those that think a loud sled is "safer" in the mountians. Yes I have been able to locate someone cuz I can hear them. My boy especially growing up running twin race pipes. But I have also seen 1st hand avys caused by that same noise! Noise is old school. I want to be able to keep riding. The is no longer any hp to be found with loud exhaust.
