In an effort to find the best bike for snowbiking I want to post a poll. First to narrow down what you think is the best brand, Once we have a definitive result Ill post a poll to find the best bike inside that make or top two if two should tie.

I consider a result a win of at least 10%. I will let this run until we have at least 100 votes or 2 weeks.

very true, Im just hoping to cut down on all the "what bike should i get?" threads.

Chevy vs. Dodge vs. Ford vs. Toyota...

Great effort, but since all of us are subject to our own limited experience, opinions and environment, that question will end the same as the universal argument about pickup trucks. If more people buy more of an item does that make it the highest quality (think Wal Mart here), or just the most affordable, or most dealer supported, or just what their buddy bought … Just saying.

True to some extent. However, people keep asking the same questions over and over. Just look at any of the "what bike should i get posts"

and if they are trying to save money KTM is surely not the way to go! dealer support is good but nearly in the qty like that of the Jap bikes.

Just pick a bike, attach a kit and go. After you ride for a season you will figure out what is important to you. I've had a WR, a KX, and now a SXF. Each bike has strengths and weaknesses... its just deciding which ones can you live with. As long as you don't trash the bike you shouldn't take much of a loss season to season.

KTM will win this - it's pretty obvious that more people use KTM's.

They offer way more options that work for a snowbike than any other manufacturer, and they come with e-start which is important to some people.

One thing to also consider is the money option. KTM is a premium bike and most people who own them have a little more coin to spend. Early adopters to the snowbike sport largely also have a little more coin to spend. Just another aspect to consider with KTM.

I agree, but theres also a lot of people I'm finding that want to get into the sport but dont yet own a bike. But they want the best right out of the gate so they budget and save

Almost 3 1/2 seasons on the snow bike ,yes its not for everyone with shallow pockets ,but now the used kit market is picking up ,My bubbies have alot of coin so I get to try out the lateset bikes and kits ,what I have found theres not just one bike to have all got pros and cons ,Biggest is the lack of maintenace and up keep.

I think the bike features are by far the most important (wiring for carb heaters, lights, grips, plus things like kick start backup, aftermarket seat options, larger tanks, etc outweigh price because if you really need to save a few bucks, buy a used bike. For example, I have a used 2009 300 xcw that I paid $3500 for plus a used 2011 TS that I paid $3500 for. That's less than most people pay for the bike alone. I might have another $1000 invested in mods to the bike and track kit (larger ski, dual skag, gas can, etc.). So for $8k total, i have both a summer and winter setup and in winter I go everywhere the 2014 450-500's go. Will be looking for a used turbo next for the 300. Giggidy!

Whatever bike you have, or like, or can afford! Lets not turn turn this snowbike forum into 8 different ones and start bashing each other like the sled forums.

That's not why I did this. I'm not going to bash anyone and I hope no one else will. I did it because people keep asking the same question over and over. What bike should I get? Bla bla bla. This way they can just look at the pole and hope quit posting the same post over and over

Eventually this post will be old and get buried by new threads. The new guys won't search for it and will still ask the same questions. Just have to put up with the questions and try to be helpful. The sport is too new to know what bike is best. The setup of a bike is the most important thing to get the best performance at this time.

Was hoping to get it pinned so people could stop asking lol
