Best boots for a women rider new to the sport???

So I finally talked my wife into trying it out we are going friday. She doesnt have any boots and I know that if she gets cold it will be the last tme so I really need to find some good warm boots for her. Any suggestions? We will start with easy stuff but work towards powder backcountry riding in the northern utah and idaho areas.

My wife wears Baffins as well. She's trying out a set of HMKs this year and she's happy so far!

Ryde snowboard boots are light and dry and relatively cheap. Check any board shop for good girl boots.

I wear HMK as well...never cold, ever! Used to wear snowboard boots as well....as long as she understands they are stiff with all the support...:)

I'm not sure she will like the snowboard style, see she comes from a family that never really got into winter stuff so she doesnt know what she is even getting in to. I think in the interest of getting her to go more than once comfort is going to be biggest priority. When se gets into it more and is riding harder then we can look into stiffer boots but for now just comfortable.

Just a suggestions but...........
Take along some of the chem-pacs (heat packs). That way if she does start getting cold you can toss one in each boot or in her gloves or were ever she needs em. Takes care of the cold problem before it really becomes a problem.

We always take em along.

wicking socks are just as important as the boots. or you could do what i do. save your self a lot of money and pain and leave her home if she isn't the adventurest type. i think it's cool to have a women keep up with the boys but my wife isn't cut out for it.

I am a huge advocate of HMK but if you are concerned about too stiff of riding boots plus I would never coach a new rider to head out with unbroken super stiff performance riding boots. SHE WILL BE MISERABLE!

Here is an option that I wonder if any of you have experience with...
TIMEBERLAND I see in the Sportsman's Guide that they have a gortex lined pac boot for women with get this...THE BOA LACE SYSTEM (which absolutely kicks a$$ and is one of the reason's HMK is the best riding boot in the biz). They are CHEAP TOO at $80.00 (that is semi unbelievable for gortex and the boa system...plus TIMBERLAND is normally very high quality)
1-800-888-3006 LX8X-146080X (sizes 6-11) color light gray/black soles
10 1/2" high and weigh 23oz pg 92 Christmas issue

HERE'S A TIP

Get slightly too big and don't stack more then one pair of performance socks like smart wool. Comfortable yet slightly loose fit. Part of her warmth happiness and enjoyment of the ride is to keep her busy but not warn out. Most beginners get cold and miserable watching us hotdogs go while they sit rest and relax. Just riding the trail can wear out a beginner from stress. Set a safe and easy pace and keep on the move but not far from the rig so you can return easily and within her comfortable limits of excercize. DO IT RIGHT AND THEY WILL ENJOY IT, GET BETTER , AND BECOME A VALUED RIDING PARTNER...DO IT WRONG AND YOU'RE SOLO OR BACK TO RIDING WITH YOUR FAT STINKY FREE LOADING BUDDIES who keep making you crash your stuff! :D:D:D

ome funny comments there I like it. We always pack the heaters and I just got a bunch for christmas so good to go there. What socks do you guys recommend? I usually just wear my normal socks so I havent had any experience with the high performance ones.

I Bought my wife some Sorels with some Smart wool socks and Helly Hansen Liners. So far so good , no complaints yet. I figured if she didnt like sledding then she could use the boots for other winter activities like shovelling the driveway or somthing !

I like the Klim Adrenaline boots. They are warm, dry, and comfortable; not too wide or too stiff like some. I wear merino wool socks from Cabelas. This wool is soft, not scratchy and wicks moisture well.

Good luck and have fun!

RU Outside boots are great as well. Tundra boots. Here is the boot F-Bomb is talking about clicky. Those are a fantastic deal, and Sportsmans Guide is a good company to deal with as well. :)

Socks.....Katahdin Gear are excellent, as are Under Armor Cold Gear.

boots

my wife went with Danners... warm, comfortable and something you can walk in if you have to walk out

I wear HMK Pro boots and I love them my feet are never wet! They are kinda big though so if I buy new boots it will be the Klim Adrenailne. My boyfriend has them and they are awesome and a bit smaller.... Aslo get her thoes stick on boot warmers (like the hand warmers) just incase!

I was gonna say some big ol' bunny boots or pack type boots since she's not going to be all over the sled and throw in some chem foot heaters.

FBomb nailed it! I'd order those up, toss in some chem toe warmers just in case :p

I think I'll look for some nice tall comfy pack boots, no reason to spend all that coin on snowmobile specific boots for a first timer. At least if she doesnt she will have boots to do other winter activities like shovel the driveway while im riding or to make snowmen with my son. Thanks for all the input.
