Best Backpack

:confused:What is the best backpack to get CO2 snowpulse(protects head but also deflates) OR ABS with nytrogen. On one hand the head protection is good but with this I'm hoping to be close to the surface that I don't need the extra oxygen from the pack. Is the nytrogen more reliable. CO2 is cheaper to refill.

when it comes to saving money on co2 or nytrogen i dont think this would be the place to do so, when your looking for an abs bag it will be worth it to spend a couple extra bucks on a product that could save your life.

I bought an ABS, key features for me is that it does not deflate until YOU want it to. You could ride the rest of the day with the bags inflated on your back if you needed to.

the snowpulse bag is actually just high pressure air not co2. i like the snow pulse because you can go to a scuba shop or paintball place to fill your tank and not have to send your pack to the manufacturer.

I agree that the Snowpulse is more convenient and probably cheaper to get refilled. I have had my ABS cartridge and trigger replaced locally, I did not have to send it away, it cost me $100 bucks though!

good point, unless you carry extra bottle all the time I want to put it on when I leave the truck and take it off when I get back. no good deflated

There is no extra oxygen in either pack (to breathe while buried). And you can carry an extra cartridge for the ABS. Either one is better than nothing!:beer;

If you are caught in a slide and are on your stomach heading down hill, if you can't roll over for whatever reason will the snowpulse, when deployed, keep your head down in the snow or do the airbags allow enough room for you to pick your head up? Seems sort of odd to me to have the airbag behind your head.

I saw a show last night on The Discovery Channel that said once buried, there is no way for the carbon dioxide you breath out to escape. The guy said that a lot of people died of carbon dioxide poisoning, not because of a lack of oxygen. So if that is the case, would having extra oxygen in a pack even matter? I don't know whether or not this is true, it's just something I heard.
