What are the benefits of a water intercooler?Has anybody put a temp probe in the air box to see if they do work compared to a regular air intercooler?

An air to water intercooler is the ONLY one that will work well on a snowmobile. Air to air intercoolers are intended for vehicles where a constant flow of air is available. On a sled busting through deep powder the intercooler or your vents will become plugged with snow and will not see enough air flow to work properly. A water cooled one will perform perfectly in all riding conditions and deliver ice cold water for an ice cold Intake Air temp.

speaking of ice cold........................The thing I have learned is that how many cars do you see with a radiator sitting at a angle like they do on sleds. You might have well not have one and not loose the air flow - because the benefits are not there. The Air to water on the other hand is the only way to go. Give Shane a call, I am trying to talk him into building one for the Cats since I bought a second sled and want a Aero on it. I know that he was telling me that he was in the process of mounting a data logger which will show air temp, post turbo air temp and post air to water intercooler air temp. He said he will have it posted so everybody can see the benefits.

when i was with a few friends riding with shane last season we put a laser temp on the intercooler and it never got over 70 degrees to my understanding the polaris wont run without one not enough air flow if you run a air/water you can run higher boost at lower octane at least on a polaris make a few pulls then put your hand on a charge tube.
I have a water to air on my 900 efi cat with a probe in the air box with a seperate exchanger and pump makes 60-75 degrees difference.
