Belts, EGT probes, and tie rod boots oh my

First off regarding belts...My sled has over 500mi on it now and was through break in mode in just under 200 miles. Every ride has been in 2-4ft of pow varying from wet and dense baker concrete to blower light snow. Fairly mixed terrain from trees to open pulls often going for 20-30mins sometimes without stopping. Typically run out of fuel in 45-50 miles. I made it to 450mi on my first belt before it just started to pull an outside cord. This meets or exceeds my expectation for typical belt life. I have heard of a few more belt explosions in under 200 miles but it does not seem to be widespread.

Its my understanding that checking clutch alignment is not part of the PDI on the Gen4 and that there is limited to no adjustment in how the motor sits in the chassis.

For those still having belt problems I think you need to get an alignment bar on the clutches and check the basics.

The QRS seems unchanged from previous years so I would not suspect that to be a problem area. The design of the motor mounts, bump stop, and secondary clutch tower seem very well done. After finally realizing the secondary needed moved out 3mm on the mountain sleds I don't see that skidoo would make that mistake again...

The new P Drive primary is running cooler for me than the TRA on my T3. I have adjust my clickers a few times and cleaned out clutches and the Pdrive sure seems like a quality unit. I don't see binding bushings and or quality of the clutches to be a likely issue.

The quality of some of the stock SkiDoo belts is questionable in my opinion. If you look at all the belts on the rack at the store you will see some that have the cords so exposed and sticking out past the rubber that they are almost guaranteed to fail. Almost of all my belt failures in the past begin with a pulled cord. Look for belts that have the least exposed cords and they will live longer.

EGT probes...mine has fallen out 4 times now and even with high temp lok tite and cranking it down as much as possible it won't stay put. I'm probably going to tack weld it in.....

I noticed the other day that my steering was binding up. Eventually discovered that the small grommets that seal the end of the rubber boots around the tie rods had fallen out on both sides. The rubber boots were full of ice and letting snow into the linkage causing ice chunks to bind up my steering......doesn't look like anything ripped just that the zip tie popped off so hopefully if i tighten the zip ties down a little more around the grommets they will stay put.

Otherwise my sled has been flawless and I must say so far I have never been so thrilled with a new machine
