Belt Tension

So last year I had my belt set up perfect with the grooves just above the sheaves on the secondary, and engaging at 4200-4400 rpm. This year I put a new belt on and had chain case apart while doing a track extension, new drivers, ect. Sled will roll ahead with any throttle and then die if i hold the brake. Track will also turn if i lift up the back. I have tried playing around with the jam nut adjuster but cannot get it to release and allow me to lessen the belt tension. Any ideas?
I am thinking maybe the sheaves are stuck together but this is only a 12 600 with 860 miles so clutch should not need rebuilding.

also want to add that I know I have proper chain tension so am pretty sure that is not influencing the issue. I have 10-58g weights and a slp plue/pink spring

Off the top of my head, here's some possibilities:
-Your drive clutch has a bushing problem and isn't returning all the way. I've seen poo clutches with bushing /roller problems inside of 500 miles.
-The belt you installed has different dimensions than the one you removed causing less than ideal belt-to-sheave clearance, or deflection.

While belt-to-sheave clearance usually doesn't need adjustment unless you switch to a different brand or type of belt, deflection is something that needs to be monitored and adjusted as belts wear, and when changing belts.

I would start by getting actual measurements of both the clearance and deflection, and checking for full travel of the movable sheave.

Looks like I have solved the problem, seems like my deflection adjuster was set way to tight and I did not have it in far enough to get it to increase deflection. Backed the jam nut almost all the way off and threaded the bolt nearly to its end length to get it to work. Rode it around and engagement is smooth. Thanks for the help!
