Belt spec question

i've been running a 115 on my 08 dragon 800. i'm trying to figure out what belt to run on my work sleds since we can't keep a belt from getting hour glassed long enough to wear it out. i'm told the 080 belts are interchangeable with the 115 but the specs don't seem to match up. we have some leftover 078 belts from the old 550's that seem to be similar to the 080. will they work with 08-09 600-800 sleds?

would you recommend trying a softer compound like the carlisle ultimax XS809? unfortunately the sleds we use don't often have much time to warm the belts up and usually have some blown snow in the compartment. the 115 does hold up well for us but for the cost it seems like we would blow through a couple cheaper belts and be even on the cost. i have yet to see a belt lose teeth or unravel since i've been there. they've all been misuse/improper break in problems.

any ideas?

great info, thanks.

Some have been using a cat belt to replace the 115. it is half the price. i believe it is the 048. thinking of trying one myself but would like to know the side cut angle before trying it. the 080 polaris belt does work but will heat soak faster and not hold up as long.

The angle on the 080 is different. I ran the Polaris 1122 on my 09 rmk because the specs are identical to the 115 and alot cheaper.

I was wondering about that. i don't know what PBO stands for but i assume they both have kevlar and after the break-in, the cut vs sanded finish should not matter. are my assumptions correct? is there a difference in the rubber compound?

I run the 115 for my main belt and 080 as my back up, if my 115 blows i will get home on an 080. The 080 does heat soak and blows alot easier than the 115 so when i have to run it i take it really easy. The 115 is a great belt just wish it was cheaper.

tree_climber can you please post that ac listing here? or at least the link as to where you found it? or pm it too me. what's the side cut angle for the 048? is that listed? that is the last thing i'm looking for. thanks

122 does work quite well and is less expensive but it won't handle as much abuse as the 115.

according to those two charts the 048 cat belt is .4175 of an inch longer. that could be significant. i thought when i was looking at it before they were closer than that. hmmm? and where is the specs for the 046 abd 047 cat belts? the width is almost dead nuts so that is good. but what is the angle on the cat belts...??
