Belt question

Yes. 45C4553

Do NOT store it in the under hood belt "box"-- the back bend the belt does to fit in the belt holder will cause premature failure. I learned that lesson last year-- sent in the belt to Gates with $10 and the filled out warranty card and was sent a replacement belt.

Will continue to run Gates belts.

How do these belts hold up on boost?
I asked the same question to a guy that rides boosted sleds over 100 days a season .

He said the Polaris Axys belt lasted longest, the Pro belt second, Gates third, Cat belt fourth.

I think its worth spending the extra coin on the Polaris belt. Its not very fun when a belt popps under throttle.

I might have missed it, but are these two belts the same width? Or real close?

OEM belt 1.46" or 37.10mm
Gates belt 1.442" or 37.0mm

The specs show the gates being .018" narrower.....The problem is that the OEM belts dont measure at spec and the gates are either at or slightly above spec. I measures several new polaris belts off the shelf and they were .020-.050" narrower then spec brand new. So thats what 200 bucks buys ya.

Just measured the brand new belt on my 17.... 1.420 .040" worn out already!

Polaris measures the projected width of the belt before they cut the sides. They will always be narrower than the published spec.

We have found the same issue and have been adjusting the Belt to Sheave on all the new Axys clutch's that have come to the shop for balance. Every OEM belt we have checked a has been right at 1.43" wide. The Axys clutch's are all over the boards on width. I have seen.050" in several clutch's and have seen .020". Just like balance some are ok and some are not so Ok.

I checked side clearance on my 17. The Gates is almost perfect and the oem belt is really loose. I have a new Cat 048 belt as well it was the loosest. My eye tells me they are all cut at the same angle.

The Axys clutch face is now one angle from the bottom to the top.
