Belt dust sucked into gas tank vent stops up fuel filter

Today I read on OTHER forum that some guy noticed his cap/tank vent line had belt dust in it and gas tank was full of dust in gas that eventually clogged up filter to result in LEAN condition. The line's open end is close to clutch area from factory and sucks IN dust. He vented to outside of foot well and is careful not to get snow or water there. Others
started admitting they have noticed the same . Has anyone here noticed this. Black gooey in filter and intake boots. Credit goes to him.

I don't have my pro yet, is there a way to buy a small filter of some sort to put in that line?

I'm VERY skeptical... it would have to suck in a lot of belt dust. How much wear do you see on your belt?

x3 doubtful. (not impossible)

The belt dust would ned to travel up that clear , go thru a tip over valve, past the "smart valves" (strainers) and into the filter... Belt dust is pretty a pretty large particle... It would not get past a 10 micron filter.

If you wanted to be anal about it... put a small oil-injection filter in that line.
Not much volume of air moving at any speed goes thru that line... It is not constantly "sucking air" .

Do you have a link to the other thread?
Pics?

One way to find out is by pinching the line and go for a good ride and see what it does to your tank , it might decide to remold itself a bit ,restrict the line and it'll suck harder till something gives , seen it done to a sled you could see between the tunnel and tank. Poo has a tendency to put holes and lines in very peculiar places. Move it would be a better idea.

No magic here, just reroute it. They will suck hard. Belt dust on a poo is nothing compared to a doo...
