Belt Drive Issues With Turbo?

Are people having issues with the stock belt drive on 14 pro's when they turbo them?

If I am going to run 10psi should I be adding a TKI or CMX belt drive?

I would hold off and try the stock belt... Got some pretty hard boosted miles (400) on mine and still good

Tore through a '13 QDS belt in no time. I never did try a '14 belt. I decided I wasn't going to pay $190 for a new belt, $190 for a replacement belt, $60 for the change tool so I just spent $600 for a TKI setup. Love that setup. So far so good.

Isn't the 14 belt different part number than the prior years and suppose to be stronger? Did they change anything else like the pulleys on the 14s?

I have a pro turbo running 8psi

so far 785 miles no problems at all. Same original 2013 belt. Looking at swapping it out for a 14 belt this weekend. But its hard to want to do it since its not showing signs of breaking.

Erik @ alpine told me people with the TKI are breaking those belts too so no belt drive is bullet proof.

Yep, that is what I was saying. I would have to buy two of them (one for a spare and one to replace) and decided not to chance it. The TKI setup has been great so far and the belts are only $80. Polaris is raping us on replacing a faulty belt on their QDS.

I really question this for two reasons. One, I talked to Tom at TKI and he told me a few weeks ago that he only had one confirmed belt loss. That was to a snow crosser. And two, you are talking about Erik Woog right?

Correct, the '14 belt is suppposed to be stronger. And I'd have to say they may be right since reports of failures are way down. But there's more to it than just a belt.

Or, low reports of failures could be down due to the horrible snow year we are having this year all over the West.

As for the pulleys....no change there however, the bolts that hold the pulleys on did change as did the torque spec. There is also a recall for all '13's. If you purchase a '14 belt, it is supposed to come with new bolts.

The answer I got from the inside was also... the torque spec not being enough resulting in somewhat loose pulleys which allowed them to run untrue with another which then resulted in a stripped belt.

After taking apart a '13 jackshaft assy and looking at everything, I'd have to say at this point, my findings would agree with most of the assesment I was given.

But I'd like to see a better quality finish of the sprocket teeth.
