Belt Drive and Infinity

I, for one hail the demise of the chaincase and look for the day when all sleds (except thumpers, too bad) have the belt final drive. And enough about the growing pains, things will get better. In my dementia prior to snow, I'd like to see someone design a miniature drive clutch to sit on the end of the jackshaft, a miniature driven pulley to sit on the end of the drive axle, with both connected by a miniature drive belt. Then an infinite drive system driving another infinite drive system; infinite drive squared. Then add "fly by wire" technology.........

Now we all can talk about the infinite possibilities about a theoritical conceptual concept. To infinity (or when the snow dumps).

Ha... Ride em people... then report on them.

I've seen plenty of grenaded chaincases... but most of those don't get posted on.

If a belt goes now after all this bruhaha on here... It will be put under a microscope and talked about more than a chaincase that went.

Lets see how the season plays out and talk about this again in January.

This will probably be a hot topic from here out though... but hey... so are tons of other topics in the past, all brands, all features.

the only one I have ever seen was due to Polaris' other marvel of engineering the 05 900 plastic chaine case cover ! :face-icon-small-coo

I called cycle works yesterday to order a belt just to have in the trailer and they are backordered on them. He said it is a supply issue.

I've seen my share of blown chaincases, diamond drives etc etc. I for one am happy to see a movement to a new design which eliminates a number of mechanical parts, oil, and weight all at the same time

With that being said, there have always been known issues with belt quality control on belts in the past. whos to say things are not within spec? who's to say there will not be better quality belts out there as replacement parts?

It will all come in time. I, for one, try never to judge posts on equipment failure that I was not part of and have no real concept of events leading up to failure.

There are 2 sides to every story
