I now have a 04 Pro X 660 144" . I love the sled but it's time to get something else. My favorite part of my current sled is it's handling, I can make my sled do ANYTHING I want. I am a boondocker not a hill climber. I rented a xp and didnt like the way it handled, and the new 800 polaris is scarry with the 800 problems. My best option is the M8. I found a local dealer that will do a M8 limited for 10,300 OTD.
Is there any opinions on how I will like the sled?
What is the diff between the limited and the sno-pro? (other than color)
How is the cat warrenty?
Is that a good price?
I put on about 500 -1000 miles in WI, I have never had any problems with my 2". Is there any flatlanders that have had any issues?
What kind of gas milage can I expect? taking it easy and hitting it hard....
I would put a can on the sled, what would be a quiet aftermarket can?

Dang 10,300 OTD?!! That's a good price. My dealer told me around 10,400 for a standard OTD. I think the only difference between the two are the colors. SLP makes a good sounding and quiet can very close to stock. Cat is good with warranty aleast I've never had any problems. You'll love the sled just pull the trigger already! I think I might go snowcheck mine tomorrow.

This is true for anything that has been redesigned or is a new model. Dont buy the first year, let them work out the bugs on someone else's dime.

I am refering to the new motors

I am sure they will be fine, it's just a good practice!

sno pro model come with the adjustable handle bars, standard models do not. Also slp is the most quiet aftermarket can you can buy. It has a deep throaty sound and sounds sweet, but it isnt really loud.

Only difference between the SP and LE is color. They both have adj riser, fox floats and titanium springs. 09 they offered the Boss seat on the LE and not the SP with a cat symbol. this year they have their own seat (made by boss or not much speculation in the forums). The sp and Le both come with the 160hp engine where the regular M-8 has the 160 option. To tell you the truth for what you can get the M-8 sp for now, 8500 or less, I would buy one of those, put a SLP pipe and can and boss seat and have 160 hp and a proven engine. Plus weigh less than the 2010 model. That is just my opinion and why I bought the 09 LE.

the 2010 if anything are the same or a pound or two lighter than the 09 and the weight comes off easier on the 2010 since it has the can off the 1000 and you can easily lose 10lbs with a can alone. The HCR has a stiffer track, wider front end(same as crossfire) titanium shock and clutch springs, hillclimb setup suspension. The stiffer track is better for more setup, and hardpack snow. AMsnow just did a test of the summit 800, dragon 800, and the M8 and the M8 got the best mpg by like 1 mpg when riding in deep snow. I think it got 7-7.5 mpg in the deep. My crossfire 800 gets 8-12 depending on how hard I ride and snow conditions. Since you are a boondocker i would definetly go with the M8 Le over the HCR unless you put the narrower M le a arms on it. The regular M8 le is a more capable boondocker, and rolls over easier than the HCR.

I stand corrected. but my understanding is only if snow checked (with a bit of research.) I know my Le doesn't have the boss (unfortunately) dealer sold it. Next on my list of things to get along with the slp pipe and can.

this is how I understand it, both were snowcheck options, but some dealers put them on the show room floor that way, the HCR came with the Boss seat std

160 hp option for the standard m8. wtf. Doesn't say that on their website.
