How much will this hurt perf. Can it just be smoothed up?

Is that of your '06? I know some people just run a damaged head and let carbon fill in the indents. It might be a good excuse to put aftermarket heads on. A guy that I sometimes ride with has SLP power domes on his rev and loves it.

If you choose to run it , be very shure there are no sharp spots sticking out.

Not off my 06, it's stock and staying that way It's an RKT 14.8 head off an 04 that im parting out. I've run a dinged up dome but not this bad. maybe I will smooth it up some before I sell it.

If you put it together and it runs good I don't see any problem with smoothing it a little and running it

If your parting it out why not just sell it without the head? At least you can sell it with a clear conscience even if you sell it cheaper

New head for sure... Itll work, but not a good idea. All those pits can create hot spots that may start pre-ignition or detonation again...

14.6-14.8 domes are common when you only ride 8000+ elev.

Good point, my mistake, I was looking at the wrong reply and thought you were from Iowa. Colorado is probably a little higher (har, pun intended) than Iowa.
