This is a great idea but I think you are going to struggle getting people to come to something like this. I think this is how most peoples minds are working. Why would I go and challenge someone in there own riding area. That would be similiar to Ricky Carmichael having a race at his own practice track. I am sure your Chad Reed and Bubba would not be signing up for this. Not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to be realistic.

I don't think anyone cares......Conrad had an idea about doing a fun ride and this is what it has become. If it keeps snowing it might be a race "to the ridge" not "around it". Anyone go up today?

If it is just supposed to be a fun ride then why is he discussing timekeeping. I have never had timekeeping on any "fun ride". Am I missing something? I agree that it sounds like a fun ride through some challenging terrain, but decide if it is going to be a come ride with us and see if you can keep up or a timed race.

It is just going to be a fun day. Would I like it to turn into a real race someday. Yeah I think that would be pretty cool. You have all the big drag races. (Big iron, big dawg,fairview...) With a good tuner and deep pockets anyone can line up and squeze the throttle. But we don't have anything like this around. This its not who has 500 horse or just a drag for a couple hundred yards. Its tuning ability and rider ability. You don't have to put thirty or more into your sled to compete. But for now its just for fun. Because of the very fact that alot of the people don't know the area and I have been busy with family stuff for the last month and have not put any time into planning. The time part is more or less just a bragging right between all the locals. Because like you said they might have a advantage. The goal though is to have everyone take the same route to cut some of the short cuts out that would really give someone a advantage. Not to say someone else might smoke us all. Plus don't forget about Mt. Baker having the sleds for everyone to play on. And the bbq. So to answer your question yes I think Stewart, and Reed would go to Carmichael's for a fun day of ridding when there is nothing to win but just some good times to be had! My whole goal is just for everyone to get together and have fun! Hope you decide to come have a good day.

Tar with you being like my big brother and Fred going to be my father in law. The rules say we should let you guys win but I never have been much on rules! Sucker HAHA

With all this new snow all joking aside we need to be safe! We don't need to loose anymore in our sleddin community. There is not a day that goes by that I don't feel that emptiness by loosing my bestfriend who happend to be my Dad!

This ride is pure "fun"
It doesn't matter if you ride this area every week or have never been to
this area.

If you have never been to this area this would be your chance to come out
and ride. Team up with a "local" and see some new country.

This is a limited time offer ;)

I am a little confused on a reason not to hold a timed event because it is someone's local riding area. Are you suggesting that there are long distance snowmobile races held where no one normally rides? It is all for fun, its not like anyone has a reputation they are going to damage if they don't have the fastest time :). I think that there will be lots of people showing up just interested in learning a new area.

I did a cross country race like this a few years ago. It was a complete RIOT! We competed against some locals who could ride the area blindfolded. My goal was to actually finish the race. We (this was a 3 person team) came in second, the locals beat us by over 5 minutes! LOL But all in all, I say I'd love to do it again!

Great answer Conrad!

I hope you have a great turnout and I look forward to the stories and maybe some pics?? :)

we were up yesterday rode with the guys from slednw.com. If were being timed yesterday we would have lost bad. dropped in to lower bearpaw lake at about 12:30pm got back to the truck at 7:00pm had to come back out the way we went in. Quite an adventure I guess we needed Conrad to show us the way. Did I mention the snow is Deeeeeeeeeeep!!!!

Everyone I have not been up on the Mt. in atleast a month. Do not follow the pink ribbons going thru the woods from lower bear paw lake to the road. Rumor has it I put those up but it was a surveyor or the forest service.

Conrads the man!! Hey we might be up. Not to race but hang out, bringing the better half. CG and mod you should show up.

Funny I have been through those damn woods 20 times this season but all it took was some pink flags and off I went. Good thing I walked the last 100 ft of the pink flags because I would of headed down some crazy steep trees. Hope no one followed our tracks. Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!
