Bear paw ridge run

A group of about 13 of us made the loop yesterday in the sun. We had a couple of good wrecks but for the most part no injuries or major damage to the sleds. I got some great pics and I will post them once I get them off the camera.

Hey Chicken, off topic but my brother and I have tried to make an Excelsior to Bald Mt loop a couple of times but ended up with mechanical issues both times (wasn't fun trying to climb out of there on one cylinder). I know one guy has made it to the same spot from both directions but not sure if anyone has made the whole way around yet. Figured you've tried it or made it. Awesome country back there. Any thoughts?

Yeah I have been back there alot. Jim is the one who has been from both directions. My Dad,Fred,Jim and my self have been the farthest from the excelsior side. If we have enough snow I know how to get all the way through but we havent had enough snow.

It was a great day wasn't it. The Kidney Lake shoot was quite the entertainment. Of course we were the first rollover for the day up there. Each one after that got a little more spectacular. Luckily nobody got hurt but there was definitely a lot of plastic pickup going on. Did you find any icy spots on the Excelsior side? Seems to get pretty wicked in the trees.

the only bad snow was in the trees on the way to lower bearpaw lake. we climbed up out of bearpaw lake back to bearpaw after completing the loop. other than that the snow was great. was your rollover the white dragon?

That was us. He hit an ice patch and slacked off the throttle then went into a deep patch and got on the gas to make his turn but the Dragon spit him out of the hill sideways and the rollovers began. Only damage was the windshield luckily.

Starting to look up for the 21st. We are running around the ridge this Sunday if anyone is intrested. The day of the 21st Whatcom county snowmobile club will have nothing to do with it. Its going to be who ever wants to get wooped up on. So get a partner. Mt. Baker motorsports will be holding a demo day at the same time. With a hot dog and maybe a chilli feed.

Its time. We have the fresh snow we were hoping for. Now do we have the people who were doing all the talking? I know we had some people that weren't locals try the ridge and not make it over the past few weeks. We don't want anyone getting hurt. So if you don't feel comfortable please don't try it. But I am sure we will have other things going on at the lake to either participate in or to watch and have a great time. Mt. Baker motorsports will have demo sleds there for people to try out. There will also be a chili feed.

So here is what the ridge run is boiling down to. Its going to be all about bragging rights this year. No sponsers and no prizes. Just some good fun. We will start at bear paw (Church lake) at ten. Drop down thru lower bear paw around the road to excelior. Across the ridge all the way to church. Back to the lake. There should still be partners. There will be no check points this year. One thing that is asked that we stay out of the wilderness!! This means you must take the trail through the woods at execlsior at the top instead of dropping over the back of the ridge.

Thanks
Conrad

That m1200 is definitely worth the trip I road that thing two weeks ago and I will assure you it rips. Look forward to seeing everyone at the lake!

If you already have a partner it would be great if you could respond with both peoples names by friday. This will help with the time keeping. That way I can print a sheet ahead of time and give it to the time keeper. There will be no stops on the route like orinally planned. But we will have a staggered start.

1)Conrad Woods / m1000
2)Darin Peterson / 800 ski doo

Last place for sure.

This race is way above my skill level. I don't think I can make it all the way.

I think I'll sit on the ridge and watch.
